A small group of 32 fans were caught by surprise when they were invited into the rehearals by The Rolling Stones in Paris tonight. They were lucky to see the band rehearse "Live With Me", the new song "One More Shot", "No Expectations", "Worried About You", "That's How Strong My Love Is" and "Litte Red Rooster". Jul 27: Gimme Shelter tops BBC listener poll
A BBC Radio 6 Music online poll has revealed that "Gimme Shelter" is the listeners favourite Rolling Stones track. The vote was launched on Sunday 8th July as part of BBC 6 Music Celebrates 50 Years of The Rolling Stones, giving listeners the opportunity to vote for their all-time favourite Rolling Stones track. Jul 13: Bill Wyman rehearsing with The Rolling Stones
Bill Wyman has been rehearsing with the The Rolling Stones recently. Don't be surprised if Bill Wyman is back on stage with the Stones soon. Yesterday Ronnie Wood said "We had a good play in New York five days ago. We did 50 songs in five days. It was brilliant." He also said: "What we do is live in hope and hopefully this week well unfold some plans." Bill Wyman has also rehearsed with the band and Ronnie said: Its like hed never been away." Jun 3: Start Me Up in the Omega Olympics ads
Omega - the official time-keeper of the Olympics - scored the Rolling Stones classic "Start Me Up" to soundtrack their spot in the lead-up to the summer games in London, USA Today reports. The commercial features several Olympic athletes like sprinter Tyson and swimmer Natalie Coughlin prepping in the moments before the starting gun sounds. "Start Me Up" was used by Ford in an auto ad in 2003, as well as Microsoft launching Windows 95. The Rolling Stones have released LA Friday (Live 1975), the third album in their "bootleg" series. The album was recorded on Sunday July 13, 1975 at the Rolling Stones show at the Forum in Los Angeles. Although the album was recorded on a Sunday, it was mistitled by bootleggers as the Friday show. A new Rolling Stones book titled "50" will be released all over the world on July 12. It is compiling rare pictures from the UK newspaper Daily Mirror archives. The book project is overseen by Charlie Watts, with each band member writing content to tell the band's story. To support publication, the Mirror will run daily stories on the Stones over the week beginning July 8. Keith Richards and Elvis Costello joined in live on stage last night at the John F. Kennedy Library in Boston, MA, USA for the encore, doing a suitably sloppy and euphoric version of Chuck Berry's "Promised Land", in an event where the audience was gathered to see Chuck Berry and Leonard Cohen receiving the first annual PEN New England Awards for Song Lyrics of Literary Excellence. Keith Richards made his long-anticipated return to the spotlight Friday Feb 24, with a performance at the famed Apollo Theatre in Harlem, New York City. He was part of a tribute concert for Hubert Sumlin. Keith emerged from the wings to sing Howlin' Wolf's "Goin' Down Slow". The White House is opening its doors in an invitation to the blues. Mick Jagger, Jeff Beck, B.B. King and Keb Mo are among an A-list of artists who will perform at the White House Feb. 21 to celebrate blues music and recognize Black History Month. The program, called In Performance at the White House: Red, White and Blues, will be live streamed on the White House Web site. It will also be broadcast at 9 p.m. Feb. 27 on PBS stations. Feb 2: Hampton Coliseum live 1981 show recording released officially
The Rolling Stones have issued the second concert from the Rolling Stones Archives, following "The Brussels Affair" release last year. The latest offering is the famous bootleg record "Hampton Coliseum: Live 1981", a digital-only collection that documents the bands Dec. 18, 1981 concert at the Hampton Coliseum in Hampton, Va, USA.
