September 30: The No Security Tour
The 1999 arena tour in USA will probably be called The No Security Tour, to back the live album due to be released in USA on Nov. 3 (Europe Nov. 2). The tour will be indoor only, about 28-35 shows, arena size venues like Madison Square Garden, 20,000 capacity venues and smaller, and no stadium shows at all. The No Security Tour will be on during Jan, Feb. and March, then the Stones will be back in Europe to do the rest of the Bridges To Babylon shows in UK, Italy, Iceland etc. Probably some arena size shows in Europe too.
September 29: Facts and figures for the 1998 tour
The 1998 tour audience figures are now complete and confirmed. The Prague arena show had the smallest crowd of just 13,006 people in Europe, closely followed by the stadium show in Istanbul of just 14,873 people. Germany had record crowds of 90,000+ people at the shows in Nuremberg, Hannover and Hamburg, while the Dutch proved to be a Stones crazy country by filling up 86,000 fans into their 6th show in The Hague. Rain or shine - it was a great tour!!!
September 29: The 1999 tour dates
Sorry, but no news about the 1999 tour have still leaked out. You will be the first to be told once there is something solid. All we know so far is that the U.S. Winter/Spring tour is indeed confirmed, but we do not know if it will start in San Jose, even if the West Coast start is probable. If US locals with leaks from venue owners can unite, then IORR will add up all these rumours into much more probable dates and shows. So far there are very, very loose rumours on these places and venues: Jan 12 '99 San Jose, San Jose Arena; Jan/Feb '99 New York City, Madison Square Garden; Jan./Feb '99, Boston, Fleet Centre; Jan/Feb '99 Philadelphia, CoreStates Centre; Jan./Feb '99 Auburn Hills, Palace of Auburn Hills; Jan./Feb '99; Cleveland, OH, Gund Arena; Jan 1999, Sacremento, ARCO Arena; Feb '99 Pittsburg, Civic arena; Feb '99 Denver; McNicols arena. Also, shows may be expected in Canada and Argentina, plus summer 1999 in UK, Italy, Iceland and Holland.
