QuoteDoxa Yeah, I'll rise my hand as a sign of a fault. This is what I wrote in the concert thread after Harry had shown the original. - Doxa I'll raise both and I'll take no dessert tonight! So the song is from 1970... and as soon as I heard the 1st instrumental version that popped up on a VGP boot around 1997 I thought "hey Mick re-did "Crazy Mama". Is it

It must be said Jordan is handed a rather raw deal. He has to replace THE drummer no one can replace. The minute he misses a cue or a drum roll it'll be on YT and he'll be crucified on the Net agora. That's a big sword of Damoclese that hangs above his head. Financially speaking there's no way he'll make as much as the other 3. Will he make as much as Darryl? More

QuoteRocktiludrop as i suggested Keith probably wasn't full on with this corporate kind of Gig so was possibly less enthusiastic to sing his heart out for them. If you think Keith had any prevention about turning into a corporate wh0re for 60 minutes think twice. He's realised long ago (in 1989) Mick had a super-natural ability to generate cash (1st with Cohl, then on his own) and

QuoteTaylor1 Why didn’t Keith sing a song at this show Cos no one among that audience would care? It'd be a momentum-killer. "You Got The Silver? Ever heard of that tune, Tracy? Yuck!" For that kind of audience the best thing the band can do is switching to "human jukebox" mode. And that's what they did. Jagger knows how to deal with customers.

QuoteBlueTurns2Grey That happens very often to me, but in my case it's coming with the age... Mick will bury us all... In 2063 he'll still wiggle his skinny ass in front of 13yo kids who 'll be delighted to see him on a stage.

I may be completely wrong but indeed this is an early OOC with - probably- Saber playing most if not all the guitar tracks. It feels very weird because (imo) Saber mainly plays "straight", on the "one" while Keith instinctly plays on the backbeat. Anyway this OOC I is no match for the studio version.

Could this one be THE track from the B2B sessions? Not the most important one but the one that led to the eviction of Saber from the studio? Keef didn't like the fact that a non-Stones person put a track on a Stones song, and he got the head of the man ("What about Waddy?" you might reply? But Waddy is family. Saber wasn't, apparently...) Mean people imply D.S. got his

Quotegotdablouse And I think Charlie said something like "some of these grooves were frankly ridiculous" ? Your Honor I refuse to answer and I plead the Fifth! Let's say... Glimmerman did a good job when he chose the best of these 4 hrs for "Voodoo Residue" : some of Mick's ideas presented here for the very 1st time are not as good as the "Residue" mat

What strikes me with vol.2 is the quite large amount of MJ demos based on drum loops. It's not just one or two but a lot, which makes me think that's the overall sound Mick had in mind for VL : a dance album based on grooves. Mick would design drum patterns with a machine and Charlie would then adapt them with his kit. Apparently his vision was rejected by Don Was : "(Don W

QuoteStonyRoad Quotedcba I really hope vol.2 will include another version of "Randy Whore". I always loved that track! they're on Vol 03 (with Charlie) Thank you Norbert! Btw I'm beginning to wonder if "Randy Whore" II (03.58) actually has Charlie on drums, not Mick. The drumming is better, classier than on "Randy Whore" I and it has a roll at the ver

QuoteMathijs I only hear computer drums and synthesizer percusions, no Charlie. Mathijs Can I have your expert ear on "Make It Now"? I hear computer drums and piano by Keith. Wouldn't be a premiere to hear him play a machine? And in retrospect the 09.15 version of "Make It Now" that was on "Voodoo Residue" could also be recorded with a drum machine

Couple of useless remarks : - "Breakin'" returns! Keef did it in 85, he reworked it in 87 then in 93 he offers it to Mick. To me track "01-04 sounds like Mick solo on drum machine and keyboards trying to figure out what he could do with the song... - I really like "Look Out Baby" and its swirling melody. Too bad it sounds like "Continental Drift" a bi

Just my opnion but... thanks for the laughs! >< Page should seriously rethink the imagery he uses to sell the band these days... I mean an airship and footage of the band where smoke goes up while the band plays. The cliche-o-meter goes to the red and beyond, here. You can't be more "Spinal Tap"-ish than this. ><

QuoteBig Al The early 00’s has proven to be the last meaningful hurrah for rock: The Strokes, The White Stripes and The Killers, stateside; The Libertines, Franz Ferdinand and The Arctic Monkeys from the U.K. Imo all the names you mention are terrible : retro-sounding acts who thought they could "resurrect" rock by mimicking the sonic style of the 70's. The Black Crowes (yawn!) p
