Quotefranzk - Only poor Bill would never had so many chances to shag girls I found the solution : see my post on p.1. The only difference with a career in the band would have been to bribe the London Vice squad regularly.

"What if Mick and Keith never met in that train station" - Mick would have pursued a career in international finance. In 2023 he would be some sort of a British Larry Fink, managing roughly 1000 billion quid. - Keith would have become a street musician in London. He would have died on the pavement of a seedy street in the mid-90s (sorry Keith) - Bill Wyman would have opened

QuotePalace Revolution 2000 (Although Woody's books have to be taken with a grain of salt. In his world he taught Hendrix how to play guitar, and organized Woodstock..) Does he talk about his Miami "Woody’s On The Beach" club? In his own book Bobby Keys had some interesting theory about its creation and its funding...

QuoteEleanor Rigby Do we know what this song is all about? Ah tough question. Is the 1st line a jab at Bianca - written by Keith - or a jab at Anita - written by Mick? Both work : Bianca dragged Mick into the jet-set crap and Anita was not frnakly a healthy influence on Keith. Or is it an entirely different thing? Years later Keith admitted some of the lyrics of All About You were aime

QuoteProfessorWolf agreed also add to that robert greenfield and chet flippo And Barbara Charone. Her Keith bio is an essential read. I do not know if it is because she is a woman but Keith really opened up to her.

Quotegotdablouse after all it took 30 years to find out that "Break Away" ("Trouble's a Comin") was a cover ;-) Indeed... reading Boby Keys bio could have informed us Keith was heavily into the Chi-Lites during the 72 tour. So the band did not discover "Trouble's a Comin" in 1979.

QuoteRollingFreak Love Jimmy and there's always gonna be an element of his life that feels like it was so much wasted time. At least since 2000 for the most part. He had The Firm after Zep, then a solo album, then Coverdale/Page, then Page & Plant and then played with the Black Crowes, but pretty much disappeared off the face of the planet after that with the exception of the Zep reunion

Quotekeefriffhards He used a good charm offensive on Keith, flattery will work every time, well on Keith at least I think Keith knew getting an album done was an imperative to the band. And that Watt could get the job done after years of creative stalling. So he probably showed some courtesy to the Kid so the sessions could move along smoothly. When people turn 50 they get kinda cynical an

QuoteCaptainAcid Someday i will work on those since origin is lossy and Sectral Repair works magic on lossy files. Excellent idea Cpt as we never got the files lossless, apart from a bunch of preview tracks which were leaked here to kill DAC releases in the nest.

QuoteStonyRoad I will write more. We’re going to make another album soon…’” 1 - Mick is now the sole writer in the band. Keith does jackshit. 2 - You gotta admire the guy for still trying to find new riffs, break new grounds and not resting on his laurels. To me that is as commendable as being able to work a stadium stage for2 hrs at 80.

Quote1963luca0 Ian Stewart Al Kooper Nicky Hopkins Billy Preston are all much better than he is sure but in defense of Chuck these 4 are better than 99% of all rock/blues piano players in activity since 1945. Chuck got the job not because he is as talented as the 4 ones you mention but because he is reliable, that is alcohol/drug-free. He will not OD in his hotel room or pass out drunk

QuoteElmo Lewis Chuck's wife is having some serious health problems. I'll leave it at that. Damn that is bad. Hope she recovers soon. RE Chuck I think he is essential to the live/touring machinery but he is pretty useless when it comes to recording new music. In other words he is 100% reliable - which is good for live performances - but I do not think his piano licks are super-

QuoteMathijs The entire 1973 tour was recorded by the Stones mobile. The tapes of the Rotterdam shows were shown in last years documentaries. Mathijs Not just some gigs at the end of the tour when the band was hot? It would have been logical to bring the Mobile for a handful of perfs and tape all the other nights with a more primitive gear. I remember that years ago you showed pics

For decades, chasing the ghost of Mack McCormick resembled McCormick’s own epic quests to chase down the blues, jazz, spirituals, and other kinds of music and spoken word rhythms that shaped the homes and communities through which he traveled in “Greater Texas” (which included his forays into Louisiana, Oklahoma, and Arkansas). “He’s been a legend my entire career,” recalls Jeff Place of Smithson

Not the Jerry Lee Lewis song) Dreams Cried Out Becau

"The Barbarians was a fun gig. It started out kind of under a cloud, though, because at first the promoter was selling the show by advertising that Bob Dylan was gonna be there, that Rod Stewart was gonna be there. He was an idiot. Ticket sales weren’t up to where he thought they ought to be, I guess, and he was afraid he was gonna lose his ass, so he decided to just start sayin’ shit. It wa

Quoteroryfaninva I know lots of people here enjoy the Buried Alive release... but I cant figure out why. Me neither... it is a very weak gig within a so-so tour. QuoteMathijs Knebworth is a fairly good show IMO. Mathijs it has an incandescent version of Worried Life Blues. The way Keith drives his band is breath-taking. YT has a vid of that incredible perf... and yeah they look beyond

Thank you. If I got things right this is a stealthy audience recording made in the studio where the band was warming up. And the addition of the brand new "Sweet Little Sixteen" makes the tape essential. I may be wrong but I think the last 2 tracks run a bit fast... a case of dying batteries?

Raison d’être of the New Barbarians? Promoting Ron’s new album. Keeping a newly clean Keith out of temptation by sending him on the road. IIrc it was a good deal for Keith as all the tour expenses for the tour were paid by Ron and/or his label.

QuotePaintMonkeyManBlack This is something which suits U2 or Roger Waters way more than the Stones to be honest. I am not that impressed. This and remember Keith said around 1995 : "the eyes are the whore of the senses..." It took me years to understand it was another subtle jab at Jagger : do not turn our concerts into visual experiences. Fireworks and a giant screen are more th
