Interesting article on the upcoming Bootleg Series: Rolling Stone Obviously they nearly would have released a Supper Club 93 CD+DVD but then chose to reslease the Witmark Tapes instead... incomprehensible to me, but there you are

This is interesting, I have thought about this before when somehow it occured to me that David Bowie pronounces "let's dance" the american way although he is British. Hard to imagine the song being sung differently though.

Thanks Erik Snow, Nikolai and Gazza for your recommendations! I'll make sure to try as many of them as I can find!

QuoteTeaAtThree QuoteMacPhisto I'm totally with Erik Snow and Nikolai. A 1978 summer (or december) show or a gospel show would have been my favourites for another Bootleg Series, too. I'm happy that there is a new BS to be released, but I think they put too much emphasis on the 60s (especially early 60s) given the man's incredibly diverse career. A gospel show would have been a

Those referees start getting on my nerves. That Australian player just got hit by the ball on his lowered arm and has to leave the pitch for that. I really think there are some doubtful decisions in this championship to say the very least. Just remember yesterday's matches Germany-Serbia or USA-Slovenia. The responsible people of the FIFA should take more care when it comes to nominating re

That was the best match of the championship so far. Germany played really well and it was absolutely fun to watch this. Only negative aspect of the game was that unnecessary red card for the Australian player. Otherwise, Germany has played best so far imo (but some great teams are still to come, of course).

dcba, I could help you out with June 6. I downloaded the "Border Beneath the Sun Definitive Edition" bootleg (which is fantastic in every respect, just take that Shelter from the storm) some time ago and still have the flacs. www.dimeadozen.org

Hasn't Switzerland finally signed the Schengen Agreement this year? So there shouldn't be any problems going from Switzerland to France and vice versa now. (although I'd like to point out that I have never been to the airport myself and cannot tell you about personal experiences here... but politically it's quite clear)

I think Zooropa was very good! Numb, Lemon, Stay, Zooropa, The Wanderer... I like most of the songs on it. Pop however was terrible. Hopelessly over the top although there are three or four good songs on it. As far as I know Pop (as we know it) was not exactly the album the band wanted to make. With the tour dates being fixed and the beginning of the tour approaching, the album had to be fini

QuoteHappy24 Quotewhitem8 happy, I know what you mean about his DVDS!!! I am a big fan, but they drive me crazy. Some great performances, marred by interviews and sloppy cuts. But having said that, one of the best I have every seen, is McCartney at Red Square, not that is a great DVD!!! WITH two great shows on it! Great!!!! The version of She's Leaving Home is spine chilling!!!! I also kno

Thanks for your reply, Nikolai! I really wasn't aware of it being such an essential album and I'll definitely buy it, then. Sounds like an album that requires repeated listenings, though (which I actually like with an album if it rewards my repeated listening to it). You're right about the MacPhisto/U2 reference. My registration here at the IORR message board coincided with my

Does anyone know or even like his experimental album "1 Outside"? I don't know much about it but am considering buying it... wonder what it sounds like. Oh, but I really dig this version of "Hello Spaceboy" from the Reality Tour Berlin 2002, what do you think?:

Thanks for your short concert reviews, peter and tomk! Really makes me want to finally hear a recording of one of the fall shows (not to speak of seeing him live myself)! And usually those university shows tend to have quite a good sound quality! Can't wait...

Yesterday, U2 played Springsteens "She's The One" (well, actually "He's the one" ) together with "Desire" on the occasion of the boss's birthday. Bruce himself was at the show, too, albeit only in the audience.

Now here's something that may interest some of you (if you don't know already): At wolfgangsvault 2 previously uncirculated soundboard concerts have emerged. One is the Rolling Thunder show from the 8th of december 1975 (previously released as audience recordings, e.g. "Night of the Hurricane"). The other is the late (!) show at the LA-Forum on the 14th of february 197

One passage I really love is in The Divine Comedy's "Don't Look Down": (I have to quote the whole passage because it just belongs together) And without warning when we're almost at the top The wheel that turns us all comes to a sudden stop. The wind that's blown us dies a quick and painless death The air gets clammy and we hold each other's breath We ge

Absolutely adore this song!! I think the song sequence of the first 8 or 9 songs on "Electric Arguments" is one of the best (maybe the best) Paul has released since Beatles times... or say at least since Band On The Run. Unfortunately the last 5 songs on the album are just crap, imo. I'd love to see Paul do something in this direction, being a bit more "daring" instea

QuoteChrisM Quotetatters QuoteHappy Jack Ive heard this statement before: How is Ticket to Ride heavy metal? There is nothing heavy about that song, not the guitar, not the drums, not the bass or even the vocals. Ticket To Ride is not heavy metal, but it's definitely a precursor, an ancestor, to heavy metal. It was, at the time it was recorded, in Feb 65, the heaviest rock and roll soun

Quotesquando Why? Classic how some people assume because they know of something or someone that everybody else should. She is 22 for God's sake. Born 1987. CDs had phased out vinyl by the end of the 80s. She grew up with cds. She's exactly my age and I can therefore assure you that people of that age indeed do know about vinyls as well as other "relicts" as vcrs. Believe it
