I thought it was great too.

Out Of Control was played 12 times during the 2005 North American leg of the ABB tour :
East Rutherford, Hartford, Ottawa, Detroit, Chicago, Toronto, Durham, Philadelphia, Tampa, Seattle and Boston (both shows)
It was put out of the show as the setlist went smaller (like on every tour since 81)
And only once during Licks tour in Milan.
Saint Of Me was played twice during Licks Tour in Utrecht and Amsterdam.

Bob seems to enjoy autumnal California. He's been playing there regularly during the last few years. However, this destroys my vague hopes for another Europe leg of this touring year.
Those shows seem to be a "Bob only" tour again, without any other acts. So there will be the return of the longer sets.

pissed i missed the norfolk VA show. huge wlllie and mellencamp fan and just getting into dylan more lately. i owned the essential dylan for probably 4 years now after trading up from the old hits 1 and 2 albums. i just got modern times, freewheelin and time out of mind

Sorry I missed him this summer. Someone who has seen a few shows, give a cool little write up on what you thought about them. I am especially interested in his voice and timing. And guitar??? THANKS!!

Thanks EriK!

I was thinking about the Lake Elsinore, CA. show,
but was hesitant because I didn't want to suffer through a Mellencamp set, resulting in a shortened Dylan set.

The trinity of Paldium shows sounds much more promising...saw him there several years ago - great (small) venue
Also, this reminds me of the 3 Wiltern Theater shows back in '02,
where Dylan christened the newly renovated theater (right before the Stones appeared there).
I was at all 3 of those shows, and they rank very highly on my Dylan show list.
Plus...he whipped through a great version of Brown Sugar!

With 3 days to play around in L.A., I'm sure there will be some variety in the setlist with the addition of more new songs from his latest.
And special guest appearances? Being that this is L.A.,...you never know.

Wow, you were at the Wiltern shows? These are among the very best shows I have EVER heard (unfortunately only as bootlegs, however in excellent (!!!) quality).

I especially like the 2nd show (I think) on October 15th. As close to perfect as you can get, setlist-wise and performance-wise (just listen to the first song, "Seeing the real you at last"). Almost unnecessary to mention that the sound is superb, too.

Did Dylan record an album in May (and was it a Christmas album)?

A month or so ago, there was a rumour that, following his European tour earlier this year, Dylan had gone into a studio to record another album. This was surprising in itself, given that "Together Through Life" had only just been released, but what was even more surprising was the suggestion that this would be a Christmas album. At the time, we could get no substantiation of the story and, not wishing to spread a rumour for which there was no additional information, chose not to include it in ISIS magazine or on the ISIS website. In the hope of receiving feedback/confirmation, we did, however, print this rumour in our ISIS newsletter (June 2009). Since then, we have received more snippets about this initial rumour. While we cannot reveal the nature of, nor the source of, these snippets, we now feel there are sufficient grounds to go public.

We have also linked these various bits and pieces of information to another, earlier, rumour. Around the time that "Together Through Life" was about to come out, it was said that its release had in fact been brought forward from the originally slated date, namely this coming autumn. We wondered why and now think we have the answer.

We cannot guarantee that these reports will prove to be accurate but this is the way it seems to us:-

Dylan and Sony are planning to release a Christmas album later this year. There is no indication whether this album will consist of Christmas standards, Dylan originals or a mixture of the two.

Bob ripped it up good last night.
Charlie Sexton taking over the band 4 songs in just brought Bob to life.
Lots of smiles and laughes from Bob as Charlie freely moved about the stage and turned the show into a night of screaming guitars...

There's also talk of another 'No Direction Home' style project (TV movie followed by DVD and maybe CD release) seeing the light of day - only this time concentrating on the Rolling Thunder Revue period (1975-76)

Glendale, Arizona show cancelled due to extreme heat

THE BOB DYLAN SHOW
FEATURING BOB DYLAN AND HIS BAND
JOHN MELLENCAMP AND WILLIE NELSON & FAMILY
SCHEDULED FOR THIS TUESDAY, AUGUST 11
AT CAMELBACK RANCH IN GLENDALE, AZ
HAS BEEN CANCELLED

Jam Productions regrets to inform you that The Bob Dylan Show at Camelback Ranch in Glendale, AZ on Tuesday, August 11 has been cancelled. The concert will not be rescheduled.

Given the weather forecast and excessive heat predicted for Tuesday, August 11 in the Phoenix area, it has been determined that these conditions have the potential to cause a serious health risk to the public, as well as the working personnel at the venue. After careful consideration, it has been determined that this potential risk is too great for all involved.

While we understand that this will cause an inconvenience to those who purchased tickets and were looking forward to the show, the potential for serious heat-related injury resulting from extended exposure in these conditions brought us to this difficult decision.

Tickets purchased can be refunded at the original point of purchase.

Policewoman escorts Bob Dylan to hotel after failing to recognise him
A rookie policewoman in America failed to recognise Bob Dylan after stopping him following a report of an “eccentric looking man” acting suspiciously.

By Paul Thompson
Published: 8:00AM BST 15 Aug 2009

Bob Dylan
The 68-year-old singer was placed in the back of a patrol car and driven to a hotel where staff confirmed his identity.

Dylan had told the 22-year-old officer his name - but she and her partner had no idea who he was.

Dylan was staying in town with country music star Willie Nelson and John Mellencamp for a concert at the nearby town of Lakewood.

He was strolling along a residential street in the Latin Quarter of the seaside town when police received a call reporting an “eccentric looking old man".

Two patrol officers were dispatched to investigate and stopped Dylan.

The singer, famed for such songs as Like a Rolling Stone” and Blowin’ in the wind” immediately identified himself to the officers.

But without any photo identification to confirm his name he was put the back of their patrol car and driven to his hotel. Reception staff quickly confirmed his identity.

Sergeant Craig Spencer from Long Branch police station said: "Residents called to complain there was an old scruffy man acting suspiciously.

"It was an odd request because it was mid-afternoon, but it’s an ethnic Latin area and the residents felt the man didn’t fit in. Lets just say he looked eccentric.

"We dispatched a young woman officer. She is 22 and unfortunately she had no idea who Bob Dylan was.

"He was on a walkabout but she wasn’t entirely convinced of his innocence.

"She took him back to the hotel to check his papers, then she called us to check who Bob Dylan was.

"I’m afraid we all fell about laughing. If it was me, I’d have been demanding his autograph not his photo ID.

"The poor woman has taken rather a lot of abuse from us.”

He added: ”I offered to bring in some of my Dylan albums, but unfortunately she doesn’t know what vinyl is either.”

Another officer said: "It has been the talk of the station. Both of the officers involved had no idea who Bob Dylan was.”

The incident was first reported in gossip column of the local Long Branch newspaper LinkNews.

Dylan, whose real name is Robert Zimmerman, is notoriously reclusive. After a 1966 motorcycle accident he withdrew from public life and did not tour for eight years.

He continued to perform over the last four decades and this week it was announced that he will produce a 2009 Christmas album, featuring songs such as Here Comes Santa Claus.

A 2007 film “I’m Not There” inspired by the Dylan featured six actors playing the singer at various stages in his life, including Heath Ledger
and Cate Blanchett.
