Wow, thanks for the tip! I'm having a great easter sunday listening to this bootleg nonstop. It even sounds great on headphones as well as on the stereo. If you have other recommendations as good as this one later, let us know ;-)
On Blowin' In The Wind (which was played in an almost unrecognisable arrangement) he also left the keyboards and stood center stage where he did quite an extensive harp solo, to the delight of the audience.
All Along The Watchtower sounded very different too, due to the fact that he chose to deliver a vocal performance that was more "opera" than rock inspired.
Overall a great show. This band is so tight now that BD gets away with changing the key, rhythm, tempo of the song, whatever his whim - they just roll with the punches.

A lot of people that attended the concert must have been "puzzled" by his vocal performance on All Along The Watchtower. I was standing on the left balcony, in the corner nearest to the stage. The small crowd there consisted of self proclaimed Dylan maniacs that know all his lyrics by heart etc.
On hearing what he was doing, people started imitating his voice, almost everyone around me was laughing because his singing was so bizar.
Do you know how Bowie sometimes changes to his "opera voice" ? Jagger has used that style a little bit too in recent years, mostly on his solo stuff (it started after he spent time with a vocal coach). Listen to "Old habits die hard" from the Alfie soundtrack, for instance.
It was like that last night, but then much more extreme. Dylan ended every line from All Along the Watchtower with a long "stretch of the vocal chords", much in the same way an opera singer does.
"There's too much confuUUUU#UUUsion, I can't get no relIEIEIE#IEIEIEief".

Looks like I might have to attend another show on this tour. It will be hard to resist the temptation if he keeps up doing such brilliant gigs.
This year I haven't heard Girl From The North Country, Ballad Of A Thin Man, Senor, When I Paint My Masterpiece, Love Sick, Nettie Moore, Workingman's Blues, Blind Willie McTell, Leopard-Skin Pill-Box Hat, Just Like A Woman or Masters Of War yet.
If he includes just one of these songs in the set it will be worth the price of admission.

I see... I saw him at a festival near Paris in, what, 1993 perhaps, and he was doing that stuff too, stretching syllables in, honestly, an awful way. Just like a womaaaaiiieeeaaannnn....
That been said, Dylan always had a thing for stretched vocals - many of the arrangements from the Rolling Thunder Review were like that:
"Memphis blues agaaaaiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii"
"Lay accross my big brass beeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeed",
"I threw it all awaaaaaaaaaaayyyyyyyyyyyyy",
etc.
Of course, since his 1975 voice is one of the strongest rock n' roll voice ever, it came accross very differently back then!

75 different songs played in 18 shows so far. Pretty good.
And he still hasnt played anything from the new album thats out in 10 days time.
Not sure if its been mentioned anywhere else on here, but all of the songs on the new album with one exception have lyrics co-written with the Grateful Dead's lyricist Robert Hunter.

Can't wait to hear this show as a bootleg! From what I've read this must have been a fantastic concert with the Italian crowd going completely mad during Return To Me and LARS. Bob keeps on digging in the archives obviously.
I still very lively remember the fantastic renditions of Waiting For You he gave in 2005 during the Brixton shows. A song which is somehow similar in style to Return To Me. I think those Brixton concerts have just been reuploaded on Dime if I am not mistaken. CC version. You might want to grab the concert with the only live performance of "Million Dollar Bash" in it as well as "London Calling" and "Waiting For You".

i was disappointed bob didn't pander to brussels with when i paint my masteriece...did that a few years back...and when he hit the "brussels line" the crowd reacted so well that bob just had to sprout out...err...shout out "brussels" a few more times

Along with fellow troubadour Willie Nelson, this summer The Bob Dylan Show will also feature John Mellencamp, marking just the second time in the past 24 years that these three performers have shared the concert stage.
