Is it only me or are the recordings of the shows really deteriorating from tour to tour?

From what I can hear, the Intro song moving directly into Rainy Day Women must have been immensely great, but frankly the bootleg sounds terrible.

(This is something I first observed last fall. Before, not every recording was great, of course, but the outstanding ones really were excellent, now they are only very good...)

Hello Olorin,

Thanks for sharing Dylan's setlist. I'm looking forward to seeing him in Louisville this Wednesday night. My ticket says 5:30 and unfortunately I will have to be late. Do you remember what time Bob's set actually starts/ends? I'm guessing it's John Mellancamp opening, then Willie Nelson, with Bob ending the evening. Thanks for any info you can share regarding the timing.

Is Bob already tired of his new album ? Only one song out of it. Nothing new or even interesting except Jolene and maybe Tangled Up In Blue which is rarely played. And the rest is already done, and done again for years... Till now, this US tour is quite disappointing.

To Lurker Nancy
You're welcome but I don't have the luck to go and see Bob's tour this summer for I actually live in France. I just copy Bob's setlist from a nice website [www.boblinks.com] (Thanks to Bill Pagel for caring about it) just like Adrian-L did for Rothbury's gig. So those gig can be discussed here on iorr.org. If you want to find more infos about your gig, you should have a look on that site and if you don't find, go to [www.expectingrain.com] and ask your question.

Ah, I don't know... although he played Houston and Long Black Coat I would prefer the night before. Tangled up in blue, Nettie Moore, Thin Man, Til I fell in love with you would have been huge favourites.

Am i alone in thinking that Nettie Moore is the best song to be played live from Modern Times (well I'd actually extend that statement to his last 3 studio albums).
Every time I heard it you could hear a needle drop and it was always intense.

If you like Tangled Up In Blue, download the Minneapolis gig from Obama's election night, a fabulous version. You could find a link on Expecting Rain. Bad sound quality though.

My girlfriend and I were at the South Bend show. Yeah, the set was a bit truncated, but the performance was fuc*kin incredible. Bob was clearly enjoying himself and the band was cooking. Yankee Doodle/Rainy Day Women was inspired, as was This Wheel, but the band really hit the groove during Highway 61. Friggin incendiary. And Dylan was clearly up to the task of fronting such a killer ensemble. Awesome. Awesome. Awesome.

Year by year he gradually reduces the number of songs. If this continues he soon will be entering the stage, take a bow, then be off to the trailer with a good book and one more cup of coffee.

The setlists of this summer tour are shorter because he tours together with other artists. Quite usual with Bob, he also shortens his set when he plays festivals. I'm sure on the next tour without other artists the set will be back to 16/17 songs again.

By looking those setlists (thanks for bringing them here!) it is delightful to see how much Bob picks up songs from his last three albums. They seem to to make the core of the show, which are nicely covered by the older gems. This makes it very tasteful mix, with the orientation still being 'current', and not resting in in nostalgy (which, in the case of Dylan's back catalogue, could be too teaseful to resist for lesser talents (that is . all the rest of them)...).
