Forever young and Wicked Messenger are quite rare. I think the last time the latter was played was in 2005.

I agree with T&A agreeing with himself ;-) However I think he does not neccessarily need a new band (he has a great one), but he should try arranging the songs differently. Some of the songs have been played the same way for years and years. OR he should finally rediscover all the mountains of songs he has been ignoring for so long, the songs from Tell-Tale Signs among them. Why not play H

This is a very impressing release. What struck me most after the first few listenings is how incredibly coherent this album sounds. I never had the impression to listen to just a bunch of outtakes, alternate versions and live cuts... it sounds like an album and for me one of the most charming effects is that the BS8 creates some kind of connection between Bob's albums of the past 20 years. Thank you very much for posting this interesting article! QuoteHe’s kind of old-school, y’know. His attitude is, you don’t spend a lot of time making records. You don’t do millions of takes. You don’t overdub until the cows come home. You just get the song ready, you go in there, you play it, there it is. If someone makes a mistake, @#$%& it. I would constantly get grief from the instrum

It won't be long before illegal downloads will be available. Tomorrow the album will be released in Germany (actually the release was and still is scheduled for today, 3rd of october but nobody has been thinking far enough to notice that this is the German national holiday). Some shops already offered it yesterday, so as I said: it won't be long. Tomorrow, I'll listen for the fi

I'm still resisting. I'll receive the album on friday, so friday evening is reserved for intense listening while reading the booklet.... not easy to wait tho, reading about it everywhere I look! :-)

For those of you who are too curious to wait until thursday (or next week depending on where you live) there will be an official stream of the whole album available starting tomorrow. Source and further information: bobdylan.com News However, I think I won't listen to this stream. Only 3 more days to go until the album is released so this won't lead me into temptation ;-)

Best would be a tour with a really different concept. That does not mean they have to play small venues (ticket horror), above all it should mean they dare something, they show some guts and try more songs, songs that haven't been played for ages or rarely. If they have to play the usual ones, too, they should also be "courageous" and change them a bit, try 'em out a bit. I do

@cc: I think you can enter anything into those fields (adress, name). You don't have to reply to any link they send you via E-Mail. @Gazza: This is correct. In fact this is big news for me, because this festival takes place in my (quite small) hometown just around the corner from where I live. You can imagine how glad I was to read about this in the newspaper last saturday. There was no m

I think what is most important is: allow yourself the time you need to really get into the music and the lyrics. I still remember, for instance, that I didn't like Blonde On Blonde the very first time round. But I went back again and again, and each time it revealed more of its beauty, its genius... call it what you will. The lyrics of course can be very hard to understand. Again, I ca

Thank you for the news update, Adrian-L! The choice of albums to be remastered however seems very arbitrary to me, but hey, who am I to complain! The last time they remastered some albums the result was really good! I think no other album has benefited as much from the remastering as Street Legal which is a really good sounding album nowadays.

Quotedoubledoor So I have no problem engaging in the debate for fun. It is more interesting to me than comparing athletes, which people also love to do. Hehe, you're right there. What fun would life be without discussing and arguing about which band has this or that aspect which another band hasn't. Or without compiling the famous top 5 lists again and again... Talking stuff for week

Quotedoubledoor We all know the debates about Stones vs Beatles in the 60's and Stones vs Zep in 70's, but I am so happy I fell in the Stones camp because the Albums tours and projects of the Stones since 1980 are so superior and plentiful compared to the remaining members of both bands. Only Dylan fans can say their hero has aged better. I never got this "band X vs band Y"

I think this is not a Rolling Stones phenomenon. I personally think it is safe and true to say that men are more obsessive when it comes to details like lyrics, collecting all kinds of bootlegs, accumulating tons of unnecessary information and so on... Take a look away from the rolling stones at the so-called "dylanologists" who know every stupid detail about Robert Zimmerman, inc

Lenny Bruce is from "Shot of Love"! Nice piano song, see if you can hear it somewhere, it's also a good album! However, it has already been played on this part of the tour, on August 17th. Hollis Brown has been played several times, e.g. on August 16th and 17th. But both songs are not that often played and I haven't heard them performed live on the NET yet.

Quoteolorin The MTV Unplugged is not very interesting ! Well, the official release really isn't interesting, but the supper club shows from 1993 and the "Completely Unplugged" bootleg with the whole shows the official "unplugged" release is compiled of are VERY interesting. Advice: Buy MTV Unplugged (so you paid for the official tracks included in Completely Unplugg

QuoteDes QuoteMacPhisto Beatles - Revolution 9 MacPhisto, did you spin it backwards on your turntable for the true meaning? Wow, what a flashback thought. Now there is something the Stones missed, media and fan speculation of that level. No, frankly speaking I had enough after hearing it played normally, so I didn't get to hearing it backwards... But now that you mentioned it: is

I have to add another comment. Have you noticed there was not a single Modern Times song in the setlist from the 30th of August and yesterday there was only Thunder on the Mountain in it? May or may not be important but since the album came out in 2006 there has never been any show without say at least 4 songs from MT.

This is nothing but amazing!!! 4 Tour premieres in St.Louis (all of them covers, and songs Rolling Stones fans would also have recognized). Then another 4 Tour premieres in Kansas City, among them Ricky and Cynthia and as a cover "It's all over now" sung by Mrs. Tyrell! Once again hats off to this incredible artist, band and the fantastic shows. 20 song sets and then another 9 s
