Now, what I posted above is not my personal opinion, it's just the opinion of some guy who (if you ask me) has not really insight into what's happening technically behind the whole scenery. I personally think that neither our Stones nor Bruce were pre-recorded (who am I to immediately believe any dude who states something like this?). I don't intend to defend Bruce - yes, I am a

According to the information this webpage gives us, this guy Hank Neuberger states that ALL superbowwl halftime shows of the last years were prerecorded. Superbowl prerecorded My translation of the crucial sentence: "All superbowl performances are pre-recorded...there is no way you can set up a full band in five minutes with microphones, get all the settings right, and expect to get

Now that it's already been mentioned: I personally think the whole Tunnel of Love album is ignominously overlooked and underrated. Some fantastic songwriting on this one and one of my favourites for sure.

Well, if he plays filler tracks live it can't be THAT bad because there are not more than three fillers on the album which leaves another (usually) 27 songs to be enjoyed during the concert. The album sure has a few weak points (the lyrics are the most deplorable, I mean "surprise, surprise, surprise"!?) but there is also this bunch of songs that makes you forget about these, an

QuoteNikolai His forthcoming album is a serious stinker. The worst he's done since Human Touc I'm a bit afraid of that one, too. Although I'm a huge fan, I have avoided listening to it so far and I won't hear it before this friday. However many people (fans) seem to agree that this one is a rather weak album. But I can't understand (and I mean I TRULY can't und

I'm looking forward to their new album (and have been doing so for several months already)! This single however sounds a bit too much like a Vertigo Part II... not really bad but certainly no inventive tune.

I bought this album on recommendation and it was one of the best purchases last year! For me, this album was an instant winner. The songs sound exciting and diversified and it's still lots of fun listening to the album. Although, unfortunately, I find the album tails off badly with the last say three songs not managing to match the greatness of the previous 9-10. I also enjoyed his pre

Quotetimbernardis Wurttemberg -- is that along the Romantische Road, or am I thinking of another? You're thinking of Würzburg. Württemberg is the name of a region in south-west Germany. What I would be interested in: Is this story about Stauffenberg known in other countries? Europe/America? Here in Germany it's very well known and also taught in school, so the announcement of the

QuoteSir Craven of Cottage A great Xmas present for who? NOT ME. I can't stand Bob Dylan. I often think that people are just trying to be clever by saying how much they dig him. So why should you even bother to click on a thread that says "splendid Bob Dylan box" and read it!? I don't get it. Well, as to the box: it most likely is from a mp3-source since it's ta

Revolver is the definite winner, no question about that, but Gazza is absolutely right because in 1966 the Beatles had a far more accomplished songwriting duo (+Harrison) than the Stones could offer at the time. I never understood what's so good about Pet Sounds, it bores the hell out of me (with the exception of Wouldn't it be nice and the perfect, PERFECT God only knows). I don

Rufe, you just click on the link Adrian posted last week (or on the ones from the weeks before), then on "Theme Time Radio Hour" and there you are - all shows from this season to choose from. On page one of this thread at the very bottom, bass also posted a great link with all shows from Theme Time which is also updated each week. So it really is not THAT hard. But apart from that

Considering that this year there were about 10 concerts in Spain alone, plus some others in Portugal and in the south of France it is hardly surprising he leaves those regions out this time around. However, there is still the statement "more dates will be announced". I think there might also be another one in the west of Germany (Cologne/Düsseldorf/Bonn) because this region is left out

I always thought it was a crime that the fantastic end of "God only knows" by the Beach Boys (of course) only lasts about 30 or 40 seconds. It should have gone on for one or two minutes at least, forever would have been even better. The same is true for Tom Waits' (and Keith Richards' ;-) ) "That Feel". Fades out much too soon

She has some great songs for sure. "Paris" is a really great tune! Don't want to draw absurd comparisons but the "human orchestration bit" as Palace Revolution calls it sure reminds me of Tom Waits ;-)

When I heard he was going to release some of the rarer "movie-songs" I wondered why he excluded "Waitin' for you". Is this available at all? It is of course easily accessible as part of the famous 5 London concerts quite exactly three years ago. Only live performances of this song existing, I believe. It's a nice song, bit unusual because of the waltz-rhythm thing

The question is how do you define a "great singer". If you say a great singer is one who sings very clean, perfect notes - let's call it opera-style - well, then of course singers like Elvis, Lennon or Dylan should not be in the top ten and Freddie Mercury would probably be in pole position there. On the other hand (and that's the way I would define a good singer) you ca

Thanks a lot for the information, Lukester! This is interesting indeed. My first thought also was that Bob tries someone else for the band. But it's hard to imagine him trying out "local heroes" for that job. By the way, those of you who frequent expectingrain probably already know, but I found it interesting to read about Bob visiting Neil Young's birthplace, showing th

I must admit I don't even know who he is. Never heard this name before. Hope that's not too grave an outing... I find it strange, that Stu and Denny were not on stage during that part of the show. Normally guests only appear for a song, maybe two. Remember Jack White's take on Meet me in the morning last year during Bob's concert in Nashville? That was a great one!
