Metallica - Death Magnetic
Jackie Greene - Giving Up The Ghost

Very different albums. But both good.

Is anybody else enjoying the new Fireman album "Electric Arguments"? I only got it yesterday and it's already on its way into my list of best albums this year.

7. Neil Young - fantastic return to form
8. The Last Of The Shadow Puppets - Can't stand The Arctic Monkets but this is great. Like Scott Walker stepping into a showdown in OK Coral
9. Beck - best since Odelay. Psychedelic and garagey too.
10. Sia - modern soul par excellence

Looking at this post it seems it was a really good year for new music! I liked the new albums this year from:

Kings of Leon
Lindsey Buckingham
The Fireman (Paul McCartney)
Cat Power
Will Oldham (Bonnie Prince Billy)
My Morning Jacket
Radiohead (not a big fan, but LOVE their latest)
Plant and Krauss (maybe this was '07? seems to me like I gave it as a xmas present last year...?)

Anyway... all great stuff. I didn't like the 2nd Raconteurs album as much as the first, but that could be an honorable mention for me!

So far what I have heard this year, my favorite's probably been either My Morning Jacket's "Evil Urges" or The Black Keys' "Attack and Release".

Other good ones were R.E.M. "Accelerate", Beck's "Modern Guilt", and Duffy's "Rockferry".
