Yes, the afternoon show has. The late show, however, has never appeared until a few days ago. That's what they say in the expectingrain forum anyway...

Listened through the downloaded torrent/CDR of the 1974 show, 3 times now - it's really good - and better than the official Before The Flood. The earliest 1974 shows are more fun than the Los Angeles stands though; yet, LA is really good

thanks, erik - what do you think of the rothbury board? hadn't heard a recent dylan show - thought some of the new arrangements were interesting. still haven't decided whether to see him in berkeley next month...

the charlie sexton return has my interest piqued a bit...i've seen bob at least 50 times, so the thrill is definitely gone and he's been in a bit of auto-pilot mode for too long...needs to shake things up. the new album sounded pretty good out of the gate, but i've not been in the mood to spin it in many weeks, either...

Oh - I gotta say that there's some big ups and downs on that Rothbury show - and the downs are REALLY bad.....makes me not want to put on the CDRs, but just listen to the highlights at the computer. Think he proves that he's capable of delivering very good performances - but his lust for doing so comes and goes within the very same show. The Rothbury version of Tangled Up In Blue is the ugliest version imaginable.
I hope you'll go see him....you'll regret it, if he has a good night. Maybe the best thing one can do is to go to the show with no expectations at all....just like you said concerning the best way to enjoy Together Through Life....that's when it works the best

they've just run out of new places to go, i think. not sure charlie replacing denny will be enough - would love to hear some of those harmonies from the days of the sexton/campbell band - that was clearly the best group bob had assembled since The Band....

kinda like the TUIB arrangement, actually! haha...

myself, a moderate dylan fan. i find i like his album tracks from the 60s and 70s more than his big hits. i've liked most of his newer stuff i have heard too.

my girlfriend has always wanted to see him so we got tickets to see him in kitchener this november.

i've read through the posts, sounds like hit and miss shows, but can anyone else give me some of ideas of what seeing him in 2009 is like?

or should i go with 'no expectations' as the stones say.

musically it's still top class (although his voice is even quite unlistenable at moments). it's magic smiling smiley very well spent dollars.

Seeing him in 2009 is like seeing him those past years, only his voice is getting rougher days after days.
If you haven't see him in the past 20 years, don't expect to listen to something you know or to something you reckonize... But great great music.
If you want to have a sample of what you're gonna hear, go to expectingrain.com lots of good bootlegs to download. Amsterdam (Apr 12, 2009) is a particulary good one from this year.

Question, since Bob has long given up his guitar as his main instrument and had gone to the keyboards. I know he is a pretty decent keyboardist. How is he sounding on keys?

Bobby seems to continue with his honourable policy in set lists: the bulk is based on his post-TIME OUT OF MIND material, then few excellent choices from his 'classical' catalogue (with unique and extraordinary interpretations, of course), plus one or two obvious signature songs - this time "Like A Rolling Stone", the songs we Stones fans call "war heroes" or "hot rocks", etc.

To put it simply: setlistwise it is a privilege to be a Dylan fan.

i really think his playing is very much integral to the sound of the band, now. it evolved over a period of years - at one point it reminded me of pigpen's vox organ sound with the dead back in the day. not so much now...

sometimes folks forget that bob played piano in the first band he led back in high school - he's very comfy with the keys....
