The only unacceptable guitar sound for me was 1994 tour .Too clean , but at smaller venues one year later Keith's sound was gorgous.I like simplicity of his contemporary sound -it's like old very expensive Wine.89-90 was his greatest effort in searching for various expressions - raw sustained overdrive for solos ,several shades of clean and crunchy sounds.

Still Life is 100 X better than Bigger Bang.Thin sound? it was their peak before Vegas - era , they were real guitar driven band and Jaggers voice was stronger than in 78 tour.I remember this release - i was 13 y.o. and punk movement was very strong.Stones proved that they were cool rock band , not any dinosaur.It should have been double album.

In some manner Stones have improved their performance.There are still (very few )moments of rawness and true rock glory so it`s very interesting how could they sound with Bill nowadays.Playing with Darryl( with full respect for him) is huge step down from swinging , ancient art of weaving etc.Bill is the most important missing factor in their music after 1990.
