Not much producing needed. It's just a recording of two gigs. The same songs they've been playing for months and a few old gems. You only have to make sure all the instruments get recorded properly and mix the thing. Producing is a different matter. It's got more to do with the creation of music. Chosing instruments, tempo's, deciding where the chorus comes in, the middle 8 et

QuoteTheif in the NightThe Live Licks version of CYHMK is from the Wiltern Theatre in California (2002).This particular version did not appear on Four Flicks. As far as I know,KR has always done the beginning and Wood has done the other parts. Yes, it's from a a different show, but they've also edited Ronnie's rhythm-guitar out of the first part. If you listen with headphones, you

For Live Licks they replaced Ronnies guitar on the first part of Can't you hear me knocking by KR's riffs (probably taken from other liveversions). Not an improvement really.

They've done a good job on the vocal dubs technically. I suppose the drummikes must have picked up some of the original lead vocals, don't you think?. But still I've not noticed parts of the original leadvocals (except HTW probably).

The shorter the better! I still prefer the length of vinyl: about 40 minutes. But it depends ofcourse on the choice of songs. I - and I think many on this board - could do without songs like Neocon and Suck on the J!.

In an interview with "Off the record" (Dutch magazine) Black Crowes' singer Chris Robinson talks about bootlegs and says: "A few nights ago I played Philidelphia Spectrum of The Rolling Stones 1972 on vinyl and I thought: Wow, this must be the best show ever!"

Some songs on Exile, like Shake your hips and All down the line, are (almost completely) mixed in mono.

Hi, I play on a Fender Blues Deville 2 x 12 amp, using a SG or Tele. I really like the clean channel, but I'm not too sure of the drive channel. I was thinking of trying a mild overdrive pedal instead. Any ideas? Thanks, RnT

On Bob Wills is still the King Mick seems to be playing a Taylor acoustis guitar. I think he played Gibson and Guild acoustics on the tours before ABB. Does anyone what guitar it is exactly?

While listening to Exile through headphones I noticed that Hip Shake and All down the line are more or less mixed in mono. Do you know more songs recorded in the age of stereo that have been mixed in mono? Any ideas why? Any comments on the soundquality etc.?

I noticed on the DVD that a certain Ian Stewart is mentioned as executive producer. Is it meant as a tribute to the THE Ian Stewart? Or is it someone else?

It can be annoying if many fans sing every single word of each and every song. I never experienced that with the Stones however. It happened to me once with U2. The fans sang so loud it was impossible to follow what was going on onstage. And after a while people around me started to look angry at me because I didn't sing!

I've seen them many times since 1976. Their strength has always been that they played the warhorses like they wrote them yesterday. But they do have offdays offcourse. I felt I attended an offday during the Licks tour, a stadium show. After an energetic start it seemed to me they were going through the motions, another boring day at the office. But hey, I don't mind. They don't ow

Keith wrote the song and the main guitarpart is the rhythmguitar in open G. So it makes sense he plays that part live and leave the fills to Ronnie. ChrisM wrote: >Another question that one could ask is why he never played the Dead Flowers solo live either. I've always wondered who played that solo on SF, but I concluded is was MT. Or is it not him?
