What do they really think when they're playing the war-horses for the 2000th time? Will Mick think 'what a @#$%& boring songs'? What will Charlie think??? Does Keith only act as if he likes them? And what about Ronnie?
Also... what will Mick think when he hears Keith and Ronnie going too sloppy and forgetting things? Will they ever comment on eachothers playing?? Will Mick ever say to Keith or Ronnie 'you're playing was crap tonight'?
And what does Mick think when he sees Keith and his wrinkles and wasted face/body??? (remember, I'm just 17 years old, so I can't imagine what he will think).
For me, the mistakes give the shows some character - I mean, who wants to hear pre-recorded music with lip-syncing like so many acts use today (Britney, Madonna, Ashley Simpson, maybe Timberlake, etc.) . Nothing live there except the dancing.
As for their thoughts -
Mick: I look younger than Keith.
Keith: I'm soooooo cool.
Ronnie: God grant me the serenity to ......
Charlie: Hey, who's that new guy on bass?

True. Of course. Still, there's a difference between too-muck-coke-frenzy mistakes and alzheimer's-type mistakes.
mrrockandroll, you need to check out some of the good documentaries/interviews that are around - they talk about each other's performances, and their own, including what goes on when the Mick forget the words, loses track of where he is in the number, sings a different number than what the band's playing, etc. you can see/hear them reacting to each other during shows too, if you pay attention. one of the joys of bootlegs ...
as for what Mick thinks when he looks at his friends - what do you think when you look at your friends?? i mean really - what kind of question is that.

lmfao

i believe it pisses him off but he gets over it quick, after all they have already deposited the cash and the limo is waiting...

he thinks jesus do i look tha bad too ??
haaaaaaaa
by the way, imo, keith does NOT have a wasted face/body, i personally think he looks great but he is 63 @#$%& years old and he has never had any plastic done and he has lived a hard life, wtf do you expect him to look like??!!
When it comes to playing the same songs, all you need to do is look at the energy they bring to some of the songs they don't play night in and night out. You can see how focused they get. Where as a song they play every night they seem more on auto pilot.
I saw them at a stadium during ABB and at the Beacon. And it was so much different. At the Beacon they seemed tight, more focused and very into it. At the stadium show they seemed very choreographed and each song seemed to be calculated to the second.
I guess they would have more variations in the setlist if the found some of the songs to be too boring to play for zillionth of time.Maybe they like it this way just fine.Maybe they don't do the shows for the sake of playing but for the interaction with their fans. They just enjoy having thousands of people chanting choruses of their songs and dancing to Charlie's beat.
i know for a fact that keith enjoys playing them all of them! I also know for a fact that yes they do scream at each other for @#$%& up, but its quickly forgotten.
i remember a quote from a '99 British Airways magazine where Charlie says "if i have to play Brown Sugar one more bloody time..." or something to that effect. there was a great pic of them on the cover of that magazine. perfect timed for flying back from the UK shows that summer.
Many times in the past, Keith has referred to those songs as "the babies." That indicates just how much he loves those songs. The adulation the Stones receive each and every night could hardly get old.
I've seen them many times since 1976. Their strength has always been that they played the warhorses like they wrote them yesterday. But they do have offdays offcourse. I felt I attended an offday during the Licks tour, a stadium show. After an energetic start it seemed to me they were going through the motions, another boring day at the office. But hey, I don't mind. They don't owe me nothing. They've already given me so much and made my life so much richer.
They love it. Mick said in 1997 (I think) that at some point in the show you just let yourself go completely. After what I witnessed at my last gig, it's obvious that it happened during Satisfaction. He went totally bananas. Same went for BS, JJF and RJ, and some other songs.
