Song was recorded Feb.6 1964. "We were at Pye Studios near Marble Arch to record a TV commercial for Kellogg's Rice Krispies. We invented a short Jimmy Reed style track. We had a good laugh doing it and they paid us 400 pounds too - Bill Two days prior, the band had recorded Little By Little, Can I Get A Witness and Andrew's Blues. The day before that, the band was on the Sat

I was a huge Maiden fan in the early/mid 80's. Saw them in 82 opening for Scorpions and then the next year headlining. Their sound is very distinctive and obviously, being a heavy metal band, probably don't appeal to many on this board. They may not be as popular as they once were, but they can still draw big crowds in certain areas. I saw a concert of theirs on tv, the Rock in Rio s

When I saw the subject line, I immediately thought of Keith circa 72 and Jimmy Page, same era. Much to my surprise, I see OpenG has listed the same! Also, Joe Perry from the mid 70's had a cool look. Has all the guitar poses. I like Ace Frehley's look, costume wise, from 74-77. Glen Buxton from Alice Cooper's original band looked good in the early 70's. I actually jus

I think this topic has been discussed a couple times in the past. It's difficult to estimate crowd sizes for huge festivals. Altamont might have had 250000 or as much as 500000. Rod Stewart played Rio and the crowd was estimated at 1 million. AC/DC played Moscow in 91 and the crowd was estimated at 1 million. Several performers have done free shows in New York Central Park with large

Wow, if you add up the names so far, that's one big list! Guitarists that always make the best of lists of any music/guitar mag. Hendrix, Van Halen, Clapton, Beck, Page, Vaughn, Blackmore, Vai, Richards, Taylor, etc.! Guess it shows how diverse people's opinions are. Out of curiousity, how many people on this board actually play guitar?

I'm sure AC/DC's new album should be out by next Summer so you never know! Also, in 2003, when AC/DC opened those few shows in Europe, didn't they play a full set, or almost a full set?

On the subject of ex Stones wives/girlfriends, what ever happened to Chrissie Shrimpton, Mick's girlfriend from the early 60's? Was she ever in any movies?

I recall back in 83 after Paul McCartney did that duet with Michael Jackson, Say Say Say, Mick did State of Shock with him shortly after. Again, the press were making comments of the Stones doing something shortly after the Beatles! George played sitar on Norwegian Wood shortly before Brian played it on PIB.

Hi Stones89, There were rumours of Bon singing BIB but it's not him singing. I believe the vocalist is Joe Lynn Turner, former Rainbow/ Deep Purple vocalist. I think the track is from an AC/DC tribute album. If you think about it, Back In Black is a memorial song for Bon so it would be tough for him to sing it!

Hey Stones89. I can't believe I forgot to include Bon on my list. I'm a huge AC/DC fan. From what I've read, Malcolm and Angus had already started the recording sessions but Bon hadn't begun writing lyrics yet. I guess theoretically some of the songs on Back In Black would have been released if Bon had lived, but with different lyrics.

How lucky was Tikkanen? Entering the NHL and playing with the Oilers at their peak! Definitely the biggest pest in the NHL. Funniest thing about Esa was watching him get interviewed. With his broken english, you couldn't tell what he was saying!

I think soccer is popular in North America at the kids level. I know there is lots of participation where I live with minor soccer. It is fun to play but (in my opinion) boring to watch. The thought of watching a 90 minute game end in a 0-0 tie is not appealing. All football fans in Canada will be tuning in to the Superbowl. There is an NFL Europe which has teams in several cities. Not sure

If it ever happened, I think a good replacement would be former G'n'R guitarist Izzy Stradlin. He and Axl played with them in 89 and Izzy is a good rhytmn guitarist.

Didn't Mick mention that the Stones did a couple of Cash numbers early in their career when he was interviewed shortly after Cash's death? I'm not familiar with alot of Cash's music so I'm not sure what songs they may have done. I recall reading that Brian was a big Johnny Cash fan.

I think in general the songwriters get alot more in royalties than others that just perform on the record. This is a recent topic in the news in Vancouver because the lead singer of Nickelback is suing the band's former drummer because of album royalties. He was replaced early last year and is collecting royalties. The lead singer, Chad Kroeger, says that since he wrote all of the songs

I went in to the local Future Shop in British Columbia last Tuesday expecting to pick them up by they didn't have them. I went into another store and their computer showed that they would be released this coming Tuesday. I had mentioned that I saw on the net other people in the States had already bought them. Not sure why the delay in Canada.

Purple came to Vancouver twice during their last tour. Friend of mine went to see them and said they were awesome. They also played Live8 in Canada, which was shown on Canadian tv. Not bad, not great. It is too bad Jon Lord has now retired, although Don Airey played in Blackmore's Rainbow didn't he? Steve Morse is a competent guitarist and the band still has the awesome rhythm sect

When I watched the Live 8 I was suprised at how old Dave Gilmour looked. Roger Waters looked like he is in pretty good shape. I actually think Angus Young looks a bit like Gilmour, at least from 2003 when they played with the Stones and his hair was short. I agree with Shawn 20. I'm a huge DLR fan but he hasn't aged well.

Rod goes to the side of the stage and sits down. It's obvious that it was pre arranged since it was the only empty seat there, and again, the lady is wearing a pass as well as the man on the other side of the empty seat so Rod must know who they were. I was also thinking that Ronnie probably makes as much in royalties from those early days with Rod as he does with the Stones. He co wrot

I've got the DVD. Excellent concert but I didn't think Ronnie played very well. Listening to the DVD in regular stereo and 5.1, his guitar playing is sloppy and sounds a bit distorted. Perhaps it's the guitar he's playing or even playing in a lower key from the original songs? He does look like he's having a good time on stage though, and Rod thoroughly enjoys having h

Hi Torn and Frayed. I'm Canadian, not American. I agree with the other posters saying that you don't have to be big in North America to be a star. However, the US does make up approximately 50% of the pop market and any band's overall success is measured by their US popularity. Hence the reason half of any Stones world tour is in the States. There are bands in Canada like
