Holy bandana!
These lads... No, they´re not a bunch of trappister monks
(sadly, badly not)... But the Lord-less Purple.
Seen at the pensioneer-program "Bingo-Lotto". A bad omen,
bad moon risin here? Anyway. Don Airey & Steve Morse stand-ins for Lord/Blackmore

Purple came to Vancouver twice during their last tour. Friend of mine went to see them and said they were awesome. They also played Live8 in Canada, which was shown on Canadian tv. Not bad, not great.
It is too bad Jon Lord has now retired, although Don Airey played in Blackmore's Rainbow didn't he?
Steve Morse is a competent guitarist and the band still has the awesome rhythm section of Glover/Paice as well as Ian Gillan's screaming voice.
Ian Paice is still one of my favorite drummers.

They say they are good, yeah. Dandelion says so,
and thats a no bulls man. Gotta see it today.
Hey, this is my house gods from 1972! Like some
of ya other 40-somethings out here with the Stones.

1984-85 was totally coloured by their first reunion for me.

Only listen to them with Blackmore. There's a Rainbow live DVD coming soon from the Dio years.

They sure stunk with Tommy Bolin, at least towards the end of that era.

Saw them in Münster in 1974 when I was 11 years old.

And a few minutes ago on German TV Pro7. According to their website Steve Morse still plays guitar with them so I don't know why they had a black guitar player on the TV show.

Who cares. Delete this thread and listen to a Stones CD.

I care. I was also 11 in 74.
I thought other influences enrich our Stones interest.
Would the Stones be the Stones without Keith´s non-stop listening
to various music in his Baboon Cage and more recent suites?
Or without Mick´s eagerly collecting of US records?
Or without what followed after the slave shipping?
There is also a connection: These geezers (at least three of
them) are survivors too.

Best rock album ever, Stones or non-Stones?)
Praise the Lord!

They´re on now, but Steve Morse is not with them!? A big, black guy is playing the guitar, I have no idea who he is, and what happened to steve??
Oh, almost forgot, it´s Black Night they are playing.

Michael Bradford temporary replacement for Steve Morse
Producer Michael Bradford ("Bananas", "Rapture of the Deep") will replace Steve Morse at the European tv appearances that are coming up shortly. Steve Morse is unable to appear with the band due to personal reasons. Morse will be back with the band for the world tour starting on January 17 in London.

I saw DP with Jon Lord and Steve Morse in Paris (Olympia) back in 1996.
I was kinda sceptical when I bought my tickets, but I didn't regret afterwards.
Great concert which was released officially in its entirety a few months later.

Yes, I agree with this.

ONLY LISTEN TO THEM DURING THE BLACKMORE YEARS!!!

And early Rainbow...the Dio era...yes, easily the best of solo Blackmore.
Sadly, in recent years Blackmore has turned into a medieval-acoustical-shadow-of-his-former-self. What happened?!! And in my opinion, the new version of Deep Purple is pathetic and a pale imitation of what Deep Purple is really about. Why even listen? Again..what happened to the legacy?!
