I'd agree with the majority of everyone's choices...I'd throw in the following... Bob Dylan & The Band - The Basement Tapes The Band - The Band Does Tubular Bells count...it should!

QuoteHMS Quotecrumbling_mice ABB is an absolute dirge of terrible songs and should never have seen the light of day. Rough Justice, Rain Fall Down, Oh No Not You Again, This Place Is Empty, Laugh I Nearly Died, Driving Too Fast, Look What The Cat all terrible songs? Tough verdict. IMO Street Of Love sucks, Infamy sucks. Biggest Mistake & Let Me Down Slow are tame. The rest is ok. Sw

QuoteGasLightStreet QuoteHMSDW is an analog recording but listening to the crystal-clear and crisp sound you might think it´s digital. They made a crap album unlistenable with its shiny shitty sound on top of making a shiny shitty album. No mastering could help that blendered bowl of vomit. Ha ha, that made me laugh...but well put! I've enjoyed reading through the first hand accounts of those who were there, and the official reviews and it supports what I posted earlier. Being at the gig is a very different experience to watching badly recorded YouTube clips that may only pick up one sound stack or just a bland generalised sound. There were mistakes, plenty of them, there always is at a Stones show...Mick forgets

I've watched pretty much all the songs from this show now, and I can without doubt say it is not one of their best. Keith seems to be struggling more than usual and only giving flashes of what he can do. I'm sure if you were there is would seem a very different, as we al know, nothing compares to being at a live show and experiencing the sensory overload. Video clips are only a fractio

Yeah the photo is from the Roundhay Park gig, Leeds Uk. The last of the 82 shows. I was there and at the end they all drank champagne on stage, it had been rumoured to be their last ever gig....how wrong that was ! I know I only saw them do a couple of shows on that European leg in 82, but I have fond memories of both shows. At the time I thought it was kind of weird, the last time I'd s

YOu are probably right Majesty and I also made the mistake of staying up to watch a lot of it and did get fatigued, especially when he was talking about staying up for 9 days and there I was struggling after one night....to be fair to me, I'd vaped far too much skunk and Keith was probably on something a little more stimulant in nature. On reflection and after having some sleep, there i

For those of you who can;t access this....I wouldn;t worry too much. I've watched it in it's entirety and whilst some of the Keith interludes are mildy amusing, at times it becomes cringing. We've all seen plenty of Keith puffing huge clouds of smoke as he guffaws and spits out a one liner, but this just goes into overkill and Temple has flooded it with this stuff, pretty badly ed

Whether Bill chooses to acknowledge it or not, Keith Richards was working class, as was/is defined by the English class system at the time. His parents were both blue collar workers...his mum worked in a shop and factory as did his dad. They lived in a council house....Bill is wrong...perhaps purposely wrong.

It was much better than I expected and even allowing for Keith's usual embellishments, he still managed to keep it within the realms of non fiction...we've heard most of this stuff before but there were some great tales which weren't included in Life and as a social history exercise it was great fun. Shame it won't carry on for a few more episodes. I was particuarly plea

QuoteTurner68 my sources say that they are currently soliciting billionaires for birthday party requests. once they have booked 1-3 billionaire birthday parties (BBPs, in Stones parlance), they will then decide how the rest of the tour schedule will fit around those dates. it's good to keep a calendar with the birthdates of various billionaires marked if you want to anticipate the tour.

When they did jam, they were very very good at it, but as many have pointed out, there hasn't been much jam with this band since 81/82. I think you have to look to their roots to understand why. The Stones, like many bands from the 60's were inspired by American blues - usually short songs, they developed and were steered into cranking out 3 minute singles and that continued well into

Blimey, the list is endless...this band have produced some of the greatest music in history, but they have also produced some truly horrific music. If I really had to pick just one out I'd struggle as there are many that sit at the same level for me but the two that spring to mind as being really bad are.... Indian Girl Sweet Neo Con I'd then move on to Luxury Blinded by Rai

Never heard such rubbish...as others have pointed out, Charlie wasn't late very often and usually him an Bill there many hours before the others. The drumming on GS is so Charlie Watts style in every way. Being generous, maybe Waller was around during recording and had a go on Charlie's kit whilst they were working on the song and then assumed it was him on the recording, but even that

Dirty Work is like a dose of Ecoli...you got it through some expectation of enjoyment, once you have it it is a truly miserable experience and one that you would do anything to avoid revisiting. A recording of feeble songs bar maybe one or two, a production which is akin to the sound of someone scraping their nails down a blackboard, even the cover is vile. This is almost the worst Stones r

I also went to this gig as well as the Newcastle date and this was a very special concert, a lovely summer's day in a large park to the north of Leeds. My only issue on the day was that the breeze seemed to blow the sound around quite a bit as the stage was at the bottom of a bowl in the park. TO be able to listen to it as a recording is amazing and I finally got to hear the bit of the

I live just outside Leeds in the uk ...it seems like it has been rain and floods since the start of November. Today was slightly chillier than previous days hitting a low of 8 but still way too mild for December. I'm usually envious of those in New YOrk as they always seem to have heavy snow and freezing weather at Xmas, but it's looking like we are all cursed by El Nino this winter.

QuoteGasLightStreet QuoteHMSThere once was an album with main input by Keith/Ronnie. They called it Dirty Work and everybody knows what the majority of IORRians is thinking of that album... Yet you ignore - I'll pick just one - SOME GIRLS, a truly awesome album with "main input by Keith/Ronnie". Unless your point is strictly in terms of songwriting, then yes, it didn't turn

I'd love to see a great album, but I have a feeling it might be another ABB which would be so sad and disappointing. Maybe they could do a covers record that would work with maybe one or two new sto
