Just to clarify one minor fact. The "Providence" Airport is technically in Warwick,RI a few miles outside of Providence. There is only one airport. It is known officially as T.F. Green Airport. The following is in its Wikipedia entry. "Trivia The Rolling Stones were arrested here in 1972 after assaulting a photographer, and were brought to the Warwick police station. Thei

They are/were a great band when they play blues/R&B covers, such as on "Live-Full House", but I have always felt that their original material, at least the songs that are their commercial "hits" pale by comparison and are pretty lame.

Saw them in Boston back in December. Last time before then had been 1981, Shea Stadium. I had long been reluctant to see them since then, preferring to remember them as they were when I first saw them in 1969 at the Fillmore East. But, this past fall, I'd spoken with people at stones shows who had just seen them and had good things to say, so I thought I should give them another try. They ce

The Who also appear to be lip synching to me. It is too perfect a match to the studio recording of this song and The Who in concert certainly don't sound the same as in the studio. Townsend is strumming chords during parts when there are single notes being played. He wasn't even trying to be convincing, he recognizes how silly it all is.

Johnny was the main event at a small blues festival held on Cape Cod, MA in 2002. The post by mickijaggeroo describes it exactly. Very sad. Go to show support or respect for what he once was, but do not expect to see or hear him as he once was.

Here's a cute piece of satire speculating on what it is like to have Keith as a neighbor. The website it came from also has photos, but my computer is blocking them and I am not computer-savy enough to quickly solve that, so hope you all can view this/find it on the web. Its good for a few laughs. the link is or just Google, Keith Richards, Weson CT Satire: Keith Richards’

Went to see the Boston-based Stones "Tribute" band called The Blushing Brides several years ago. Thought they were okay for a while but the more I saw, as I realized they were Stones impersonators, not just a cover band, the more I found the whole idea prety lame, like going to see an Elvis impersonator. Cover band, yes. ALway like to hear Stones Songs Impersonators, LAME. No tha

openG, I saw this same configuarion of the Bluesbreakers (w/o all the guests) at the Beacon Theatre, roughly the same time. I imagine it was part of the same tour. Of all the times I've seen Mayall, that was probably the most memorable. But I never knew about this jamfest over in Jersey. Thanks for sharing.

I had to show wristband, tickets, ID, and name check on "the list" twice, in the process of getting in. Person in front of us made it through the first check, but was held up at the second one because his name was not on the list. But, we sat in upper balconey (first row) next to two women w/o wristbands who said they were escorted in. Don't know the details, but suspect people who

Buddy is a great guitar player if he would only stop talking trash and play! I've stopped going to see him since the last few times he'd spend so much time talking about how he taught Clapton, Hendrix, etc. how to play guitar, and never actually played a song from start to finish. He is a man with great talent, but also hung up on his place in the pantheon of great guitarists, which I t

Rec'd a copy last Christmas from my octagenarian mother-in-law. She got it for $9.99 at a local "Christmas Tree Shop", a discount retailer that is a a favorite of senior citizens here in Massachusetts. I've been given several of these kinds of books over the years and would rate this as one of the better.

Yes, early J. Geils band, back when they were esentially a blues and R&B cover band, was great, high energy music. As they became successful and started writing their own material they became an embarrasment. That commercial stuff was/is terrible, especially when held up against all the earlier material. IMO the same is true of Led Zeppelin, great blues cover/rip off band but generally medioc

In 1965 or so, when I was about 12, my schoolmates and I were at JFK airport to sell candybars to raise money for my grade school. We were in an empty corridor when four guys, followed by a fifth (Mick), emerged from a BOAC lounge and headed down the corridor towards us. We hit on the first four. I had Charlie, who stopped to examine the bar but did not buy. I then tried selling to Mick.He also s
