Live both '72 and '73. Nothing better since.

The harder question is to try and find a poor version during '72 - '73. My personal fav is Wembley Sept. 8, 1973, 1st. No sax solo. Probably Taylor's longest on stage solo with the band all to Jagger's delight. Jagger is particularly supportive and encouraging of Taylor's playing throughout this show. He always was, but this show is notable. Taylor's tone and vibrato make the notes shimmer!

The LYL version is an absolute travesty. Some people rav about and I shake my head. Talk about a guitar player filling up space with incoherent nothing to say! As I saw one person put it: The worst cover of a Stones song ever.

It is obvious that anything to do with guitar slows will be from the Taylor era so it is more interesting to ask which version, not in the taylor era. Leeds 82 has some merit.

Brussels 73 is excellent, and also the Rock And Roll Circus version. In the RARC version, Keith plays it a little different than usual.

72-73 .And among, Brussels indeed. But Flaspoint and FourFlicks versions would be great if Ron could give us a decent part.

I don't know where the show was recorded but the BEST EVER version I have ever heard comes from the '73 tour which was broadcast on American FM radio on the King Biscuit Flower Hour in the spring or early summer of '75. Taylor's solo is a thing of beauty, soaring high and low, kind of "wavy", smooth, truly transcendant.

I remember listening to it before my first ever show Wednesday, July 16, 1975 at the Cow Palace in San Francisco.

My cassette recording of that right off the radio is still in pristine shape and is very high quality. I want to transfer it to CD before anything happens to the tape.

This is the same version as was later released on a bootleg titled Bedspring Symphony.

So, is this Brussels '73 or which show or shows from that tour?

Thanks.

72/73 of course all over, Ron often 75/76, especially Los Angeles 75 and Paris 76.

Brussel Affairs and BedSpring Symphony. But there is one recorded the same day afternoon at the show dedicated to the french audience ( I was part of it ). I don't know if The Stones ever performed two dates the same day except this very day.

13 dates of the European Tour 1973 were in 2-shows-a-day-style.

Erik, another attempt at humor? I find no credits for the amazing Mr. Lawrence as ever playing with the Stones. He DID play with the Butterfield Blues band and several other artists.

No joke, bassplayer. The only thing is...it could be Steve Madaio, as he played trumpet/trumbone (perhaps sax too).
Bobby Keys dissappeared in a bathtub with ladies and champagne in early October 73, as you might know. So RS continued the tour with their "spare"-musicians.

Well, whoever played that sax solo, he sounded on the verge of imploding. I'd prefer to think it was Bobby. The last blow-out, so to speak. (wink)

Yup, Bobby Keyes was too out of it to continue touring (did he leave or was he kicked out?), so much of the '73 tour was without him.

Bobby just didn't show up at the airport when heading for the next city. He just...vanished in the ozon.

Timbernardis,

I also recorded that off the radio in 1975 in NYC, shortly before they played there.

I'm fairly certain that it is the same recording as Brussel's Affair
