Flying across the country to see them with a friend a week from today. Very excited.

Of the two RW songs previewed, I like one of them... the second, more somber one. It sounds like standard RW fare. But the first one (I don't recall the names of these two songs) was like a Pink Floyd parody, complete with Animals-era backing band, Have A Cigar rhythm, animal noises (!!) and over-the-top dark, protesty lyrics. I agree with most of RW's political messaging, I just thi

I live 10 minutes from Bowdoin College... Is Chuck coming to town? Has this already happened? I'd really like to corner him and ask him what's going on with the new album.........

This is the best thread ever! (And you all should be ashamed of yourselves! ) As for me... I once forewent seeing what would be a brilliant Stones show to spend a weekend with a girl... Quebec City '98.. kinda regret it to this day... kinda..

QuoteRollingFreak QuoteHairball QuoteTate Wow, very interesting. I guess I should praise SN's honesty, although I find it very disheartening that for her, already plenty wealthy as she is, she puts making money ahead of the art of songwriting and music making. Touring is great, but why not keep making music too? Yes, a pity she's only in it for the money...seems the antithesis of

Undercover (and underrated!! Always been one of my faves) Emotional Rescue (I love the rawness of this album SO much, one of my favorite roadtrip albums) Black and Blue (Also a rawness to this I like a lot, so crisp, and Crazy Mama at the end... so good)

I wasn't around back then, but it is all about the marketing... Some Girls sold hugely, so they did something right in 1978. Let It Bleed is absolutely brilliant, one of the best records by anyone, ever. I dunno, it was late '69, right? Was it released right around Altamont time? When did Abbey Road come out? Maybe that record was saturating the market at the time. One would think t

I think they should re-record the Beatles' White Album. I'd pay for that on vinyl, and I don't even own a turntable anymore.

QuoteRip This Dirty Work...that record is so bad they should burn it take it out of circulation and try it again....terrible....the worst. Undercover and Bridges would be 2nd, and third choices. Actually, I think remaking DW would be great. It's the only album I think this concept would work for, because the songs themselves aren't terrible, it's the production. In fact, it

About to get crushed with a foot and a half of snow tomorrow here in Maine. Bloody cold weekend we just had, though it's been a warm winter overall. Had heaps of snow in February, and 20" or so completely melted in about a week's time. I love snow, so I'm greatly looking forward to tomorrow's dumping. Just as long as my snow thrower contraption functions properly.

I saw the Boston show in February '16, and then got a copy of the Foxboro, MA show from late summer. I think it was the last show of the summer. I chose not to go, because, you know, it's a big stadium show, I figured the set would be hit-heavy, more geared toward the casual fans, and I was tired that week, it was on a Thursday...... but listening to that show (a friend was there), it

Make No Mistake is lovely, from the sweet vocals, to the guitar, to the tasty percussion. Just a well-made song/ duet. This is the album, I can only imagine, that inspired Mick Jagger to put forth such a solid third solo album with Wandering Spirit. Both Talk Is Cheap and Wandering Spirit are better listens than Dirty Work or Steel Wheels, imho. They are the two shining solo albums from M+K.

'71 Marquee/ Leeds versions... Funky, alive with energy, different, sans riff, love it. All (!) other versions do not excite me. '71 is the jackpot, imho.

One reason for not scoring tix for U2 at Fenway is there appears to not be any U2 show at Fenway. Not finding any info anywhere on U2 at Fenway. Is this even a rumor?

Bjork. Bjork made it big as a solo artist after leaving the Sugarcubes. Natalie Merchant did too, after leaving 10,000 Maniacs. Both produced their best work after leaving their bands too, in that they were set free as creative artists. I think in the 80's, Mick Jagger assumed he'd have a huge hit with STB, on par with Michael Jackson and Madonna, but he was older than those two,

Not sure if anyone has posted about this already, but last night, as I am nearing the very end of Bruce Springsteen's excellent autobiography, I finally reached the excellent passage about playing 'Tumbling Dice' in Newark with the Stones a few years back. Bruce has great admiration for the Stones and their chemistry when they play together, especially in a small space with basic

Isn't there a thread where all the people who hate U2 can gather and hate together? In all seriousness, trolling a U2 thread just to trash U2 when you KNOW there are loads of U2 fans posting, who also happen to also be big RS fans if they are frequently on this site, is such a waste of time. I hate Guns and Roses, find Axl to be an atrocious singer and their music to be very lame commercial

No inside info here, jump, but it does look like there is room for adding dates to most shows. I am hoping for a 2nd Boston (Foxboro) date, as I am at a festival on the 25th of June.. Stay tuned.. We'll see!

Could be some great music, but I kinda wanted a real Fleetwood Mac album. It's weird that they are doing this without Stevie Nicks after all these years. First it was no Lindsey, then no Christine, now no Stevie? Maybe after this they'll gather for one last (?) killer album as a whole band.

Does anyone know if the merchandise that keeps popping up on Facebook sponsored on pages like "Rolling Stones Fan" and "Keith Forever" are legit? There's some neat stuff there, posters and tee shirts and such, but the purchase pages look iffy, and I sure don't want to be sending my cc# and info off to some sketchy scam operation. If you've seen them, lately th

What on earth was wrong with Rattle and Hum? It was just an extension of the Joshua Tree era and tour.. There's a lot if great stuff on there! And the film was a lot of fun back in the day. I loved the MacPhisto gag, and loved the 'Pop' album... I feel each album has gotten somewhat weaker since, but I still enjoy what they produce. It's hard to be a creative force for so

I think the emotional energy of politics has fueled the creative power of U2 since the early days. Artists write songs about what moves them.

2 degrees below F predicted for tomorrow, with dangerous windchills, then it's going to warm up 40 degrees and bloody rain over the weekend, then temps plummet again for the work week. That's Maine in December right there. January too, these days.
