My fave number off of Talk Is Cheap. Pure Al Green and would love to hear The Reverend do a cover of it.

Keith Richards deserves much more credit for the soul-ballads he's made for his solo albums. "Make No Mistake", "Hate It When You Leave", "Suspicious", "Illusion" are all fantastic songs.

Don't forget Lover's Plea, utterly fantastic.

Boring song IMHO.

I wouldn't go that far but this delicate gentle tune showed the Winos were not a versatile band : these lumberjacks could defo rock but they didn't have the finesse MNM required (imho too).

The clip above is about the most interesting playing I ever heard him do.

His vocals on MNM on the album are utterly fantastic. It's a lovely song.

Nice version here too, hadn't seen it in a long time. Thanks, OpenG.

I remember when Talk Is Cheap was just released and telling friends it was fantastic. Take It So Hard, You Don't Move Me, Whip It Up etc.
Best Stones album since Tattoo You at the time!

Two friends came around to my house to listen to the whole album and durig Make No Mistake, which I thought/said was fantastic, both of them did not understand why, found it borig...

Unbelievable, but true.

No taste in music that's my conclusion.

That dude that created The Sopranos must have loved Keith ... Make No Mistake was in an episode, as was Thru & Thru. Probably a couple other Stones related songs too, but those are the only 2 I can think of at the moment.

Anyway a really great song, Sarah Dash is great, her voice contrasts perfectly with Keith's for a great duet!

Make No Mistake alone blows away anything on "She's The Boss" and "Primitive Cool"...Talk Is Cheap put the Stones back together. At the time, Mick was panned by the press and Keith was glorified for Talk Is Cheap...It had Mick shaking in his boots as it turned out that Keith might actually be the Stone with a solo career.

Though I listen to Ron Wood's solo albums the most among the three of them.
Keith is on the first two of Ron's which may be my hook to them.

Evening Gown is a great song and one of Jagger's best solo songs he was written.

There's some nice touches on Make No Mistake, which is indeed a great little tune. The little horn fwanks. The nice rolling rhythm, Keith's missing chord or whatever he called it.

Some people can't take the slow songs. One of Keith's strong points, some fans' weak points.

I always thought of Make No Mistake as one of the very few weak songs on TIC. It has some nice moments here and there, but it´s rather boring. I love most of Keith´s ballad work including often bashed Losing My Touch, but Make No Mistake does not belong to his best ballads. When listening to it you always wait for something to happen, but it never really does. It´s just a boring song with some nice details.
Well, still better than Thief In The Night or Coming Down Again.

Make No Mistake is lovely, from the sweet vocals, to the guitar, to the tasty percussion. Just a well-made song/ duet.

This is the album, I can only imagine, that inspired Mick Jagger to put forth such a solid third solo album with Wandering Spirit. Both Talk Is Cheap and Wandering Spirit are better listens than Dirty Work or Steel Wheels, imho. They are the two shining solo albums from M+K.

I like the clip above.

Keith plays A9 - Emaj/A - Dmaj7- E7/F (with his thumb). A bit of a jazzy progression for Rolling Stones measures. That's why I like it, and if you're not used to it you quickly doze off because you hear this kind of stuff in elevators as well.

It sounds even more beautiful on the recording and the live album, imo.

Great song, but it came out 29 years ago.
