QuoteGreen Lady Somewhere deep inside Mick Jagger there is still the echo of that voice telling him to Get A Proper Job... No doubt. There was an interview with him a few years ago in which he says that his parents were appalled at his decision to quit school and devote himself to the band full time, and that they were absolutely right to feel that way, that it was an idiotic decision.

He's just speaking the truth (and "slightly intellectually undemanding" is what he actually said). Being a rock star is not a particularly cerebral line of work.

QuoteThrylan Honestly, I think the same of Charlie at this point. For that matter, even Ronnie. Even if you switched back to MT, how would you handle the 35 year "Ronnie Period?" I'm sure MT could learn the handful of decent songs they produced while he was away easily enough.

I suspect the real reason Jagger play guitar a bit onstage is that it provides a break from having to run and leap around for a couple of numbers, even if they're rockers.

QuoteStonesTod QuoteAlfonzA lot of people listing Bruce. He is one of my absolute favourites. I wonder if people listen to a lot of his 80s hits like Hungry Heart, Human Touch, Born in the USA, Dancing In The Dark etc. and don't realise his first 5-6 albums are simply phenomenal. that's true...i never did realize that... I've heard all his early stuff, and it just never did

Quotedead.flowers Is this a thread to promote these posters? IMHO the poster is utterly ugly and none of the figures resembles any of the Stones not even the slightest, the "portraits" are simply hideous and grotesque faces. The drawing of Charlie is passable, but yeah, none of the others resemble their subjects at all. Jeez, how hard is it to draw a cartoon of Old Rubber Li

Quotestonehearted Quoteblivet I don't really think it's reasonable for fans to expect the Stones to be great pals offstage. When the band first got together they were young men who shared a love for a certain type of music they had recently discovered. Of course they got along famously at first, but it's only natural that after twenty or thirty years they found that they had had q

Quote24FPS Quotetreaclefingers Quote24FPS They're lazy and hate each other and don't want to bring in anyone different or even massage Bill's ego a bit and get his old bum in the studio. There's no incentive to do an entire album if D&G & OS qualify as their new material for the stage. Albums don't make money now, tours do. It's the opposite of days gone by.

QuoteKatieGirl Mick going out of his way to say that Keith isn't family, only somebody he's worked with a long time doesn't leave you with that warm fuzzy feeling either. He didn't go out of his way to say it, he was asked. As you get older -- at least in my experience -- family takes on more importance. Both of Jagger's parents are dead now. His brother is all that

Quotealimente QuoteGravityBoy QuoteTheBlockbusterToo slow for me. If you compare the 2012/13 versions of this song with the hi-energy licks-tour versions you may wonder what happended to this band. The studio version is 126 bpm. The echoplex version is 126 bpm. Too slow? It's not "too slow". The problem is that is does not swing. It sounds like ramshackle mess. But, hey,

QuoteSwayStones QuoteTitle5Take1 Thanks. Never read that before. With Mick pulling his lips in in the accompanying photo, I can see why Jerry said that when she and Mick were in public when he was still married to Bianca, Mick would "cover his mouth and no one would recognize him." He's cute ! He looks like Adam Sandler.

Quoteab The difference between his inept solo on Key to the Highway at the Crossroads Festival the other night and his generally strong playing during the five Stones shows last year is the amount of rehearsal. It looks like he may not have even done a soundcheck for the Crossroads gig. No rehearsal, no sound check. Sounds familiar...

QuoteShade Here we go again. The Taylor Mo's pining away for days gone by. The band thrived after his departure and, incredibly, managed to become legends before he showed up for a cup of tea. Thrived financially, maybe, but they lost it musically after Taylor left. A few OK tunes here and there is about the best that can be said for their work after 1974.

QuoteDoomandGloom The closer the tour gets the more I'm convinced they are making a big mistake not taking Bill with them if he is willing. While I do not believe they are any greedier than anyone in their position would be it appears this no-brainer is driven by money. Having no idea what terms he'd be willing to accept I wonder if there is any scenario that could put him on stage.

Quotechop It was likely Keith that asked Bill back for the reunion shows. I doubt Mick cared much at this stage, but Keith has said things ("I lost my rhythm section when he left") that indicated he was the catalyst of Bills guest spots I've noticed that Keith has gone out of his way in interviews over the years to compliment Bill's playing, or make good natured jokes featur

But if the name is the important thing, the band you are talking about -- the one with Dick Taylor and Tony Chapman -- was called The Rollin' Stones. Quote24FPSMick barely looks at the other musicians up there with him on the stage now. He looks more involved when he's playing with others, be it U2, or at the White House or on SNL. I really get the feeling that he's decided that since he can't seem to make a go of it as a solo act he's going to do his damnedest to turn the Stones into his backing band. "Where's

Quoteduke richardson and Bill, he's got a lot of revenue from other sources..books, restaurants, even a bass guitar he was plugging during his brief appearances with the Stones.. That's probably more what he meant by "working" than touring with his band, which he says in the same interview doesn't make all that much money.

Quoteowlbynite Quotestonehearted I doubt that Bill was thinking of rejoining as a full-time Stone. It is more that Bill is now at a point in his life where he is willing to be a bit more generous in recalling a part of his life [30 years worth] that he has left behind. We read in another thread how Bill was only able just recently to open up emotionally about his years in The Stones in those unre

Quote24FPS To us they're the freakin' Rolling Stones. To Bill, they were the band he was in. Something tells me a lot of the old animosities and crap surfaced. Mick bitched about Bill not helping finish songs more in that '95 interview. Of course Bill's side was probably that he'd given up trying to contribute and get credit for and he just did his bass part, period. He

Quotelatebloomer If Bill really wanted to play with his old band mates, then he should have taken what they offered and once in, he could have pushed for what he wanted. Instead, he whines to the press. I think part of his disappointment was that it wasn't really "playing with his old bandmates". If I understand the reports correctly, Jagger was barely present at the rehearsal/j

Then suddenly you bring in a nice piece of melody that me and the other guy use as a verse and finish into a new song. Wouldn't you like to have credit for that melody? IMHO it wouldn't matter if you are the one who writes the majority of songs or not. If you writ
