Quoterollmops Did Mick Jagger ever met Gus? I am trying to imagine the 2 4year old GlimmerTwins playing in the sandbox, looking up at a jovial old Gus. Rock and roll, Mops We all know that Mick and Keith have known each other nearly their whole lives, but I never got the impression from their comments about their childhood that they were great friends before they discovered their shared affin

From Wikipedia: In The Rolling Stones song, "Citadel", released in 1967, Candy Darling is mentioned along with her friend Taffy Tits.

QuoteBärs Keith knows probably how good and important Bill was but won't admit it because of some personal issues that can be hard for us to understand. It is actually a quite normal behaviour and I believe that we are all guilty of similar behaviour. From Keith's point of view Bill is just an ordinary guy, not a legendary rock star. Of course, the reverse is also true. To Bill Wyman,

Quotedcba Quotestonehearted Mick still seems to favor the traditional live album release with studio overdubs. Mick hates taking risks, we all know that by now! A "straight-from-the-board" release is a "no no" in his book, and that's pretty logical coming from a band which doctored ALL their live releases since 1970. Did they tidy up Brussels Affair too?

Quotetreaclefingers I'm pretty sure I've heard that story the other way around, Jagger mentioned Peelaert and their cover to Bowie, and Bowie usurped the Stones with the Diamond Dogs cover. Which is true? I saw a TV interview with Bowie (Dick Cavett IIRC) in which he said "I nicked it from Mick Jagger."

Quotebleedingman Keith's was smug, contrived, hurtful and spiteful. I really dislike him as a person after reading it. Pete's was whiny but also brutally self-critical. Above all, unlike Keith, his love for the members of his band is apparent. Keith came across as insecure, immature and bitter. I almost stopped reading at the"spite Mick by screwing his woman" anecdote. I

Quotemighty stork I think Black and Blue sounds so different is because this album was made as they were trying out different guitarists to replace Mick Taylor. It's going to have a different feel because they aren't used to playing with each other yet. Probably why all the tracks, even the rockers, are so slow, come to think of it.

QuoteWitness I want to construct a thought experiment, rather unrealistic. Imagine one passionate and knowing Rolling Stones fan more than most, familiar with all that happened earlier, waking up on a later date from unconsciousness, which hit him or her after THEIR SATANIC MAJESTIES REQUEST. To cheer up the fan, temporarily advised not to try to read, the '68 - '72 albums are played.

Quotekeefriffhard4life for this tour to sell well it would have to be billed as rod stewart and the faces "Rod Stewart and Faces" is how they were billed the last time they toured. I have no interest a prospective reunion, but I had a great time back in 1975 or whenever it was.

QuoteOver the years the artistically inclined Jagger kept tabs on the musically inclined Warhol. Mick was such an admirer, that in 1972 when the Stones formed their own record company, they tapped Andy to design their logo. With characteristic flair Andy came up with the stylized Jagger mouth and tongue that would grace all their albums. Andy also designed the infamous cover for that year’s relea

QuoteStoneageVery often, very little comes out of these inteviews. I liked where he says he doesn't remember whether he used a port-a-potty at the festival. I can understand that he'd rather not discuss going to the toilet in an interview, but he really ought to have just said so instead of using the standard Jagger excuse.

I suppose it's cheating, but Pussy Galore did a cover of Exile on Main Street, the whole LP. More of a conceptual art piece than music, though, at least as far as I could tell from the first couple of minutes. For the curious:

Quote2000 LYFH Quotescottkeef blivet, I always assumed it was because the US teen market had so much disposable income in the early to mid sixties. All US LPs were usually 12 tracks and always included the hit singles at the time also. Up until Sgt Peppers for the Beatles and Satanic for the Stones, its seems there were 2 or 3 US LPs for every UK one! It was my understanding that the "Flower

In total, 75% of Steel Wheels has been presented to a live audience at some point since its release.

QuoteLookoutMountain Let's assume money (i.e. selling tons of albums or getting on charts) is not the issue -- would they try it -- or do it -- for fun? Or is that totally unrealistic? Since 1972, Jovan has been a fragrance leader and its Musk fragrance continues to be a best-selling brand. Jovan's early marketing campaigns became industry benchmarks and, during the Rolling Stones' 1981 "Tattoo You" Tour, it was the first-ever fragrance to sponsor a rock band.
