GG wrote Not Fade Away- A Rolling Stones collection. Issued early 80's with a foreword by ALO and a Backword by Ginger BAKER (of al people). Is it to be recommended? -I believe its coffee table size, ie. not cheap and wonder if its been largely overtaken by the second of Bill's books and the "According to.. book. Views appreciated.

QuoteRI loved these guys when I was 14. I'm 51 now. I saw their '74 tour which really was their last gasp of greatness. I saw the reunion tours in 2000 and 2002, or whatever, and it was lame. CSNY is now just another of Neil's back-up bands (note he produced this new movie and s/t). The tiresome political harangue is why it was easy to pass on this tour as well as this movie and

The final paragraph is possibly revealing..."its something of a relief when his PR comes........." I suppose the reporter was thinking about a missed deadline Hadn't realised Ronnie's PR was with him! (I suppose we shouldn't take the term PR too literaly)

CSNY must be the most over-rated group of all time. A handful of albums in 30+ years and (with the exception of Young) some very average solo material. Beggars belief that they are still a concert draw.

QuoteablettSo humiliating yourself in the press, your wife walking out, drinking yourself nearly to death, your son having to talk you round to seeking help then enduring rehab is a publicity stunt for a DVD? Intriguing.... Rubbish.......... I think is a better description

Back to the original point of this thread. Cecil Beaton the former English "society photographer" was in N Africa at the same time as the 1967 trip by Mick and friends. In his diaries he refers to their "lack of bottoms", no hips at all in fact. Cecil was gay and much admired by the Royal family.

Lennon was a complex individual partly as a result of his genes, a somewhat disfuncional upbringing and the comsumption of any type of drug he could lay his hand on throughout his adult life. He claimed to have taken over a 1000 LSD trips (Rolling Stone, 1970 interview). If he'd largely given up acid by 1967 (Mahariji)that's about 2 trips a day. So he was also prone to exagerration, b

Unbelievable really, even accounting for the age difference, the changes in Brian's appearance from 1963-67. Not a good advert for acid.

Actually, the main point of this thread was to ask why journalists never ask the question....are they all pre scripted or what? The best interviews these days are those on Childrens Telly programmes - the celebrity pops in to promote their latest product- and viewers phone in with 20 questions. No chance of ducking and diving.

Bowie: I'm amazed that these guys still sign these contracts though-I suppose the deals in pure monetary terms are better than those which give the artists more "freedom" - but heck, do they really need the money? I can't imagine Macca getting tied up like that anymore

Amazing, when you think about it, that its the Financial Times of all papers that gets to write the most mature and informative article. Well, perhaps on second thoughts, not a surprise.

Actually I think Bill's hair is the real thing. No sign of any thinning if you trawl through the photo gallery. I'm sure Mandy Smith -in her book - mentioned that Bill used to dye his hair in the bath. That's style for you. I'm no expert, but why would you dye a wig?

Great interview, thanks I'm not sure I believe the line "totally clean bill of health" sadly. Alcoholics can be in a permanent state of denial, after all Why would he be at the Mayr clinic then? Sorry to put a dampner on things.

I seem to recall reading somewhere that Bill receives around half a million English pounds per annum in royalties for his Stones work. Now Bill was with them for 30years; Mick T for about 5 years.I reckon - unless he has somehow "sold "his share and/or rights - presumably for a hefty one off payment- then he must be accruing around 50 grand per annum Plus anything he currently earns f

Well, there have been topics on just about every part of Keith's anatomony, so lets not leave Bill out. Almost every interview with Bill has the quote that he doesn't "bother with special diets, exercise, anti-ageing creams etc..." which I suppose in the wacky world of show biz does set him apart....BUT why do none of the interviewers ask him what he puts on his hair. Its s

Bill predictably, has had the best website by far. I think he must have had a lot of personal input to it. I haven't checked it out for some time, but you could read his Diaries- a day by day record. Very detailed-except what he missed out tells you more about him, perhaps. It follows the same attention to detail as his first book e.g. "what time I got up/ went to bed etc" rathe

Great message-thanks yorkshirestone. Until recently, I lived in Bradford-about 20 miles North of Holmfith. Anybody familiar with the BBC TV programme "Last of the Summer Wine" will know it was filmed in this area of Yorkshire. Wonderful countryside. Lovely people - very warm and natural. None of the phoney show-biz stuff malarkey.Very down to earth. Ronnnie could do with doing some

QuoteAddictedI do hope it's nothing serious. From my own experience, I know that chemo therapy and radio therapy can take a lot of your energy. And not only imediately after the treatment. Sometimes the fatigue appears a year or more after the treatment was finalized. It's a huge mental challenge, knowing which disease one is battling, too. And it's a bit difficult at first to real

I'd love to seee a video of a Keith interview from say, pre 1967 - just to see how much he had changed in the intervening years. In 1982 he seems self assured, confident and articulate. Hardly a shy working class cockney. In fact less of a London accent the the others. Petty the interview (presumably edited) seemed to focus on drugs more than anything else. I think the interviewer-Robin D

I suppose its just worth pointing out that (probably)if they had been offered to play Las Vegas in the mid sixties for a huge amount of mullah they and ALO would have probably declined. Not sure about what Klein's view would have been, though. However, times have changed (to quote Bobbie Dylan).

Well, Ringo has upset the movers and shakers of Liverpoll it seems. On the J Ross show earlier in the year, he said "he didn't miss anything about Liverpool" Quite naturally this didn't endear him to the populace. His last record was, lets say, forgettable. Now one of his childhood homes is getting demolished. I'm sure he's accepted though in Monaco though, or w
