Re the above comments: When, pray, did technical brilliance have anything to do with rock 'n roll, for goodness sake. Likewise the current sate of the art world. This is celebrity culture now. AS Mick once said, the secret of the Stones longetivity is: 10% HARD GRAFT AND JUST STICKING TO IT 10% TALENT 80% LUCK I think that sums it up pretty well.

Interesting, if you look at the 1969 pressing of Let It Bleed there is nothing to suggest that it is "owned " by A. Klein/ABCKO. Just Decca. Whose a clever boy, then.

Thanks Rockman 1. The Altamont photo (7August) -looks like Charlie Manson between Mick and Charlie! 2. Marlon (8 August) -dresses very conservative (unless this is the current fashion of course)

I actually came across what looked to be a fairly comprehensive biography of Jack in Borders bookshop yesterday. Not authorised. The chronology looked a bit strange, but it seemed at a glance to be quite detailed.

Perhaps Charlie will get round to re-releasing it again, one day, with a new Introduction. I assume he owns the original author's copyrights. And for sale at a sensible price.

Ronnie's being treated at "The Priory" I believe. Is this the same Priory where Brian Jones was treated around 1967. I don't thnk it helped Brian, he tried to smuggle his girl friend of the time in which wouldn't have gone down very well with the bosses. I think he discharged himself....poor Brian.

The Stones did 2 concerts in December following their American tour. I would think they have become a bit forgotten...coming so soon after Altamont. Are there any concert reviews available? How were they generally received?

I always feel a bit down when I read of these guys. I mean technicallly Bruce is as good a musician as Clapton and Burdon had about the best and purest voices around, at the time. Last time I saw him (Burdon) was on the Jools Holland show -he seemed quite subdued, not at all like the old Eric. Temperamment, unwilling to compromise etc. have been factors...but a feeling of "under- achiev

Quotemckalk Is that his wife in the first photo? He looks better than her. I don't get how he looks so good for 72? He's chained smoked all his life! Possible reasons: 1. He enjoys life, it's balanced and he has a good family around him 2. He keeps out of the sun 3. He has a healthy bank balance 4. He has a healthy sex life 5. He has had the best face lift in show busines

Ironically, it seems to have been Lennon's idea to bring some polish to the recordings, bringing in Mad Phil and his million and one strings. So from that point on it ceased to be a "warts and all" production. At the end of the day they own the rights though. I mean I can't see Mick ever sanctioning the 71 Marquee film for TV, for example.

3796. Re: Shock
If you think this is shocking, look up an old TV recording of Peter Green made in the mid 90's. This came out at around the time of his Splinter group "comeback". Compare it to his vintage performances in the 67-70 period. And by the mid 90's he had come a fair way health wise from his drugged state in the intervening years. He was actually playing guitar again. Probably th

Just do a Goggle or Google even -search for MM and you will come up with quite a few hits including an official site. She's got an impressive CV. I think its great -lets get some style, most people look dreadful in Levi jeans post 60, or post 50 for that matter. And when they are torn and frayed - yuk!

Would the Stones ever do an Anthology? I mean there must be a shed load of material out there, released, not released, private footage etc. But the Stones don't seem to have a "Neil Aspinall" equivalent as far as I can tell. With the new Universal contract, some of the legalities might be a bit more straightforward and relations between the band and ABCKO seem to be-shall we say

What's in it for Stewart? He's moved on...doesn't need them...let the past stay in the past..it could end up very embarrasing, like so many other reunions.

Maybe they decided they just weren't ready. I mean Hyde Park -the following month-was hardly a vintage performance. Shame though -I mean what a venue.

Sheila Klein was Andrew Oldham's first wfe. They married in 1964 (same year as Charlie!) I'm sure I read somewhere that she is related to one Allen Klein, who of course came into the Stones orbit a year later. Seems unlikely given that she hailed from London and Uncle Allen is of course an American. Any body able to confirm?

Just a thought -at what point does the EMI product start leaving the shelves? And when would you normally "expect" the new company to start putting out the old material?

An irony: Mick quote -early 70's I think: "There is no point in having women on tour unless it is to f**k them. All they do is moan and whine." One hopes he has grown up a bit since then- well, he has obviously. However, the Rock World has never exactly embraced the "womens movement" has it? Nor have some of its followers-given the tone of some of the messages on oth

Probably about 1964. Keith started going out with the daughter of an establishment figure. Mick and Brian in particular hob nobbed with "aristocracy"from then on. Country homes were being purhased one year after. I remember a rather snide comment by Marianne around 1967 about holidays in Majorca ..something to the effect that she wouldn't be seen dead going their..."full o

The Beatles Anthology series included a degree of "private footage". I believe the general concensus was that it didn't really add much to the series, but I suppose it depends on content. Footage of Mick in Mustique would probably be as dire any holiday films...but footage backstage, in the recording studio meetings with their Accountant might be a bit more riveting.

Skipstone: I assume they keep EMI for publishing until the current deal runs out. I'm not clear if EMI own the copyrights (Like ABCKO do for the early stuff) or whether the Stones own the rights and are just leasing to EMI to adminster. In other words, like their recording deals. I'm sure there is someone at IORR who can clarify. Not sure who administers the Promopub material (the m
