QuoteskipstoneThey're all terrible - didn't you see that thing I put on from the Alamo? Charlie and Bill wouldn't even SPEAK! They are DECEPTIVELY evil! Ronnie was encouraging Keith to piss in front of the camera and Mick was acting like they were/are all spoilt lil' childrens. Those three are OBVIOUSLY evil! Bad bad bad bad terrible horrible people those Rolling Stones are

QuotevirgilDoes he qualify for a U K pension? I'm not an expert but there are qualifying rules (which are due to be changed). Basically, you have to have paid sufficient UK National Insurance contributions over your working life. If you are in employment this should be handled by your employer who also has to pay an "employer" share. If/when Mick was "employed or was a Par

QuoteBeastDead right. How long before the Russian "kisses and tells" for some undisclosed sum? To think, in the mid 60's, the Stones Mangement (ALO/Klein) were able to pay off one of Brian's pregnant girlfriends for the princely sum of around £50 smackers

Check out the Guardian on-line edition today, interesting interview. Not everyone's cup of tea, his voice can begin to grate (but then try listening to Dylan these days). Still think he's a quirky and original songwriter though. A wry observer of the social scene. Although he writes about American issues and culture in the main his dry humour is reminiscent of English writers eg Alan

I once read an article that suggested that Art Garfunkel had mislaid his wig/toupee when travelling on the train. I'm suprised his "old friend" didn't write a song about it. On second thought, Paul is also part of the follically challenged tribe.

3819. The Verve
I cam across a reference to the legal case involving The Verve and ABCKO. RE "Bitter Sweet Symphony". I hadn't realised that ALO got in on the act after ABCKO settled their claim re publishing /songwriting royalties. ALO was claiming copyright to the sound recording (of his version) and asking for £1million smackers. Does anyone know what the outcome of HIS claim was?

Another article in the Sunday press and the much quoted refernece to the Wood's having "one of the strongest marriages in show biz". I suppose its a relative term, in the wacky world of entertainment. What exactly is their yardstick or standard? If one of the partners is an alcoholic and ex coke head does it imply a strong union? Or am I being simple here? Keith's marriage

Love the business jargon/ speak..."at the centre of a big corporate structure which gives the Stones a lot of security" (!)-see previous message I asssume this is security for their post pension needs! Just a thought: 1. Does this include the RSR catalogue? 2. All their past and future solo work? 3. When did Ronnie sign?! After all, he's been a trifle distracted of late

QuoteskipstoneEMI will maintain publishing handling for their 1977 onward songs with exception to, what, Steel Wheels/Flashpoint right? What was that. They signed with EMI in 1977. They were not working together at some point in late 1980s - which I'm guessing is the deal the Stones had with whoever that was, Sony. That's what I read somewhere. I'm no expert on this, but I

I recall a book by the writer Nick Cohn who suggested (around 1970) that the perfect way of a band to finish its career would be to all get killed in a plane crash, 3 days before their members 30th. birhday. He could have been referring to the Stones, ie 1973 I guess, not certain.

Interesting development. 1. No mention of the amount of "new" product that Universal expect. 2. Might make future colaborations with ABCKO -FOR PRE 70'S material easier to package 3. Didn't appreciate ABCKO are only co-owners with Decca - I always thought Klein had 100% of the rights worldwide 4. No mention of figures, commercial in confidence? 5. No mention of duration o

I wouldn't recommend his books at any price. His language is difficult, protentious and most of the material pulled from newspaper interviews- or his own speculations. CAN'T IMAGINE WHO BUYS THE STUFF.

QuotebvThere was an official fan club in the 60's. They made 30 issues of the Rolling Stones Book, a great magazine every fan should own, and they mailed out letters to fan club members. Then, these days you have the over-commercial RollingStones.com "fan club". Having said that, how can you make a fan club official? A fan of yourself? Controlling your own fans? A fan club is suppo

Strange, looking at this picture again. I'm sure there are some publicity shots of the group circa 1968 (i.e with Brian) which are almost similiar in a strange way. Then- taken in what looks to be some sort of English stately home; also Brian holding a cricket bat; others fielding! The perils of show-biz.

I'm surprised Mick allows it to happen. Websites are a very public face these days. Some sites are excellent-up to date, informative, creative and with archive material also. May be Mick just doesn't care less- not so much of a control freak, perhaps?

Plenty of threads concerning the "official club"-none very complimentary. Does anyone recall the first club-which had official status? The Secretary was one Sue Arnold who ran it 1964-1972. I think its office was wherever the Stones London office was at the time.

QuotetomkGuiliano didn't just try to steal any tape from Pete Townshend. He tried to steal the multi-track tapes of TOMMY from Pete's attic. Pete caught him and, rightly so, threw him out after giving Guiliano a place to stay for a few days. Guiliano does mention this in his book on Pete, Behind Blue Eyes. Not a great read, but interesting. In the book he did on HArrison, he tried

Does any one know Mick's current tax status. Is he still a "tax exile" and limited to 90 days per annum reidency in the UK? I know Charlie isn't, Ronnie not sure (but if he is there could be a problem if his current rehab is prolonged). Keith presumably not due to the fact that most of his "free "time seems to be spent in Connecticut and the West Indies. Not sure
