QuoteHairball Thanks for the review. I have tickets to see him with my wife at the Lobero Theater in Santa Barbara on Oct. 9th - right near the front! He's always been a class act, and his musical history goes WAY back. Great singer, great songwriter, great photographer, etc., etc., etc. Agreed. Enjoy the concert. You do wonder why Keith can't (or won't) do these small gigs

Quotebv The world looks very different right now, as compared to Feb 6, just a couple of months ago, when the Stones 2020 tour was announced. They bury 2,000 people every day in USA now. Sure we will have fun at one point, but right now I can not see myself having fun with 50,000 others in a stadium in USA, may be the same stadium they are now using for logistics for the current pandemic. Singapore has been rightly praised for its quick and decisive action as regards COVID 19. It has also been recognised as an economic success story and blessed with a stable if somewhat authoritarian Government. And perhaps (as far as we aware)one that seems to be reasonably free of corruption. However, behind the success and glamour is a darker side. Namely, the living conditions of many of its m

Are some European countries moving a bit quick re loosening up on various measures eg by opening up Primary Schools? I hear that in South Korea 51 people who have previously been treated for contracting the virus have now all got ill for a second time.

Quotegeorgie48 First, any person who dies from corona is one too many, but for what it is worth ... in the USA the yearly death toll for car accidents is about 40.000 ... With the changed (almost forced upon) daily routines due to corona that number should become considerably lower. Just like with corona, any death because of car accidents is one too many, but corona (how rediculous it sounds) s

QuoteMisterDDDD IHME_UW We project that demand for hospital beds in many European countries will exceed supply. For example, we project that the UK will need 102,794 hospital beds at the peak, compared to 17,765 available, a shortage of 85,029 beds Resources needed for COVID-19 patients on peak date All beds needed 102,794beds All beds available 17,765beds How reliable are these

I am not sure it helps to compare Europe with the USA. Europe is composed of 50 autonomous sovereign territories plus 6 smaller countries with 'limited recognition' and other dependencies eg Isle Of Man. The USA has 50 states (now that is a coincidence) who 'report (?) to The President of the USA. Some of the European countries are members of the EC: 27 currently plus the UK now

Quoterbp Lots of talk about a vaccine. Hope people realise that there is a possibility that they may not be able to produce a vaccine for this virus and even if they do there is still the question of how effective it will be - we will know further down the track. This is a good point. I have the flu vaccine every winter but am aware that it does not come with a 100% guarantee. Will it be the s

Whilst Governments are mulling over Exit strategies, the private sector are making plans of their own. UK holiday and flights operator Jet 2 have a announced they plan to recommence business from mid June. I personally wouldn't put any money on it.

QuoteMadMetaphoricalMax And at 78, too. Amazing. Late Beethoven, late Picasso, late Rembrandt, late Matisse ... late Dylan. Top of all their games. True, but it is only a single track, albeit a long one. What we need is an album of originals of this quality. Then I would endorse the statement above.

Quotebv Quotejlowe Further predictions (death). These come from the University of Washington (School of Medicine). It predicts: -66,000 deaths in the UK (during the first wave of the pandemic) -82,000 deaths across the USA. Oh, and the States have around five times the population of the UK. I think the IHME predictions are too pessimistic, i.e. they have too high fatality numbers. Both

Whist people in some countries seem to be preparing exit strategies on the belief that their 'peak' has passed, spare a thought for Singapore who were one of the first countries affected by the virus. They have not gone into full lockout but early on put in some very practical measures eg travel restrictions. BUT check the figures of new daily cases: From 16 March: 17/23/47/32//47/23

Quotebv Denmark is banning all larger events until the end of August. Still, they will open kindergarten and schools up to 5th grade after Easter, as they do now have a certain control of the spread of the virus, through the current lockdown. Even allowing for the fact that schools won't be reconvening for two weeks or so, is this a bit premature? The Worldometer stats only suggest an

Quotebv We do now know that lock down is working. If you limit crowds and their sizes, then the virus will not be multiplying out of control. If you look at the numbers from the Nordic countries, death rate multiplication rate from the past two weeks, you may actually have some input on what policy to apply next: Finland: 1 - 11 - 28 ==> 2.5 Sweden: 21 - 110 - 401 ==> 3.6 Norway: 7 - 2

It's not ununsual for records to have a different Distributor to that of Song Publisher. In fact it's probably a good idea. The Stones business arrangements by the late 60's were: - Management: Allen Klein/ABKCO - Record Company : ABCKO (recording masters) - Song Publishing: ABKCO Publishing (copyrights). An 18 year old Business Studies student straightaway would say 'c

Hello Luca. Hope you are keeping safe in your lovely homeland. A few comments: The Stones first Song Publishing contract was I believe for 12 months only and as a result group and then Mick and Keith compositions were assigned to Southern Music, a well established but somewhat 'conservative'Publisher. The contracts were initiated by Eric Easton. Southern is now owned by Peer Music.
