Couldn't agree more about the 23 Feb rain show at River Plate. One of the highest energy shows I've seen by anyone, anywhere. The energy was insane. I really wish a recording of this would surface. My head is still spinning from the energy at River Plate, Buenos Aires 2/23/06 (the rain show)... Of course, that was my first show (Stones or anyone else) outside of North America or the UK.

I've seen many Stones shows from the field / 'pitch' here in the US (which is prob. the fattest / laziest country in the world) and the crowd stands for the Stones. Always. If folks are unable to stand for 2 hours, they should seek out seats in the stands, or the wheelchair section. If anyone complains / tells you to sit down, they need to be reminded that they are seeing the gre

The Dead & The Stones are my 2 favorite bands... I was just imagining out loud... Totally off topic, but Willie Nelson does a cool Stella Blue on his last album with Ryan Adams.

I think the bar has been raised compared to the Superbowl halftime shows of a few years ago. However, I think that it will be a long time before anyone reaches the level of pure rock & roll excitement and energy that the Stones showed last year. I almost wished that I had a DVD ready to roll of last year's performance to play instead of Prince's set this year.

I think Sympathy would be a great opener if they reworked it to sound more like the Ya'Ya's version with Keith hitting the E-D-A-E on his guitar right from the get-go. I feel that the recent version opening with Charlie and Chuck has gotten old. I think Gimmee Shelter would be cool, too. The GS Second night Buenos Aires this February was amazing! Better than the versions on previo

I'm a big fan of Lou Reed's material, but the last time I saw him I found him to be a bit full of himself. At the club here in Portland, he made a really big deal about closing down the bar inside of the venue so as to not distract people from his performance (or be distracted himself?). I think that the signs inside the Roseland Theatre said something like "per the artist'

Ratdog would be a long shot... A better chance for an opening slot would be a reunited "core four" as the Dead opening for the Stones, but I doubt its likely that those guys will be playing together anytime soon. On a related note for those Deadheads out there, I always dreamed of the Stones belting out the Garcia tune "Loose Lucy"... I think it would match the band really

Just thought some folks out there in Stones-land would appreciate this. The thing I find amazing is that this hasn't happened more often given his reputation for smoking the herb. Glad he only was cited and not held. Those Southern cops can be tough sometimes. I saw Pearl Jam at a fairly small theatre here in Portland in July, and I gotta say I was personally very pleased with the show. Absolute Rock & Roll at it's finest. Whether or not you are a fan of their music, I do think that there are some things that they do right, that our friends over at the RS could learn from... Besides varying their setlists greatly from show to show (and pla

Safeco would have been great... also would've brought the whole baseball stadium thing with this tour full circle. Qwest field is a lot bigger, though, so hopefully they're expecting to sell many cheaper seats to fill the place this go-round. At least the show isn't at the Tacoma Dome!

Of course in mid-October the PNW could still be in the "Indian Summer" time of year, making it a crisp, clear fall night. Nevertheless, pack a good fleece and raincoat for Seattle.

I gotta side with tat2you... Red Rocks all the way. Just amazing. The Gorge is verye special too, but overzealous security and the fact that you can only get beer away from the stage / seating area kind of put a damper on things a bit for me. With indoor venues, I've always had a soft spot for MSG. Filmore in SF is nice too for a small venue. The Warfield, in my opinion, can get way to

Of course, it's all relative... I'd say Buenos Aires (2/23, the Rain Show), was probably the highest energy Stones show I've been to (First show was 10/28/89 at Shea in NYC). It was insanely good. For what it's worth, Chuck Leavell, on his blog / diary thing, wrote that he thought BA # 2 was one of the best shows of the tour thus far.

Also, I think that Daryl is starting to take it to another level as far as how he fits in with the rest of the band... a very different dynamic than the Wyman years, but it really sounds like he is starting to become one with the whole Keith and Charlie continuum.

I just got back from Argentina, and it is ground zero for hard core Stones fans. Period. On Monday before the first show, MTV was showing stones videos non-stop (at least before we went ot dinner.) Stuff like Satisfaction from the Hampton '81 Pay Per View (where Keith clocks the guy with his guitar). When we got back, MTV was playing (the film) Gimmee Shelter. It was probably 1994 the l
