I thought this thread was about the superbowl and who's was in it. What is this ragging on Jagger and trying to degrade him against Prince. There like comparing Apples to Oranges one a LEGEND the other's not and buy the way if it was'nt for Jagger seeing some talent in PRINCE there would be no PRINCE,end of story., plus when you sell out to VEGAS you know your career is DOOMED!

Mick is a legand, no one would dispute that.

As for him being responsible for Prince having a career.....well, I agree with the "story" part of that.

Speaking of "snarky gossip". Has anyone else heard that his purpleness is going in for hip replacement surgery? No joke I heard that today. So Prince really is "hip"

OT: Prince Superbowl Performance

Ok so i'm leaving myself open to tons of abuse here but Prince's Superbowl show rocked!! He made the Stones, Macartney, etc look ordinary.

He did a really good job.

Well, that wasn't so bad Micky, was it?

Not bad at all, but I don't know that he made the Stones look ordinary (has/does anybody?).

Great performance, always liked Prince. Saw him when I was 13 at Maine Road football Stadium in 1992. Just wish he'd tour Europe!

I thought he did an amazing job considering it was pouring rain. Prince likes things exactly right, and that was about as wrong as can be. But, he did a great job.

The girls dancing was incredible. They did synchronized stuff, while one had to step over some things on the floor.

I saw him on New Years Eve in his club in Vegas- the show was excellent. His guitar jamming is quite spectacular.

I didn't see his performance BUT the stage could never have been as cool as the stones' one.

He really showed off his guitar skills. Excellent show !!!

The visuals seemed to be a whole lot stronger.

Some were more theatrical--like the curtain that blew so that you saw his shadow image play the guitar solo--but I think it helped that he was rooted in one spot (on account that he has bad hips that need to be replaced). The camera could get a much tighter shot of him (much closer than Mick last year where the cameraman had to stay wide because Mick was moving around so much) which was alot more dynamic on television.

And the songs were more dramatic too: Purple Rain played IN the rain?? Can't beat a special effect like that!

(Did he also do a bit of "Baby I'm A Star" after "Let's Go Crazy?" I haven't read any mention of that)

The curved part of the guitar looked like a devil tail when he was behind the curtain. Can someone post a picture of that?

The guitar playing ['whenever' it was played smiling smiley ] was good, but for me, the vocals weren't very inspiring, and I didn't care for his song choices.

I think the bar has been raised compared to the Superbowl halftime shows of a few years ago. However, I think that it will be a long time before anyone reaches the level of pure rock & roll excitement and energy that the Stones showed last year. I almost wished that I had a DVD ready to roll of last year's performance to play instead of Prince's set this year.

...actually i had watched my tivo'd recording of the '06 Stones halftime show...just before Prince came on...and my wife correctly predicted his "symbol-shaped" stage.

anyway...i might be mistaken but i think the Stones halftime show was bonus material on the 2006 SuperBowl dvd....i think i read that on IORR a while ago. not sure if it contains the audio dropouts (censorship) or not. can anyone confirm?

Actually that picture of him behind the curtain looks like a lot more than a devils tail. Anyone notice the shadow in FRONT of Prince?
