Quotekowalski Quotestonesdan60 A Bigger Bang. Yeah - it gets trashed here a lot but I still maintain that if it were released in the seventies it would be almost as revered as Exile. If the music on it wasn't compressed and brickwalled as hell it would be much revered. I do respect your point on that..but to my ears it sounds pretty damn good anyway.

QuoteSipuncula Quotebarbabang Unbelievable transformation compared to the Bigger Bang tour. Plays better rhythm too. Plays and sings his own numbers again. The way he handles the intros on let's say TD and One More Shot : with authority. Big positive surprise. I'm proud of this band. You said it, pal. It had to happen, and I guess Keith knew it, too. I didn't think he had it i

QuoteSilver Dagger Quotelenchik No "Satisfaction"? Yep - their greatest tune. If this is their set then they've obviously been on this site and taking heed of the 'no more warhorses' arguments. No Brown Sugar, no Jumping Jack Flash, no Street Fighting Man, no Gimme Shelter and no Sympathy For The Devil, which, as much as I love it, has been done to death. Either that

Stones Now "...as this trendy-type video is just another example of Mick as Peter Pan, always trying to pander to a younger audience..." I don't get that impression at all. This is just Mick being Mick. He's always performed like he does in this video. He may be pushing 70 but if he's still got what it takes to do his thing, more power to him. Or because of his age sh

If there's one Stone I'm not worried about having lost anything, it's Mick Jagger. He sure rocked out on SNL, and from the brief clips I've seen of the recent Stones club shows, he looks as energetic as ever. He lost something on the ABB Tour? I'm sorry you didn't get to see the two shows I did. He rocked like a maniac.

People here are panicking already, can't even find bottled water anymore in the stores and it's not supposed to hit for a few days. It does sound like a bad one, so be prepared and stay safe everyone. Yep, a

QuoteDandelionPowderman Quoteopj Over the past year "The Rolling Stones", have given their fans 6 great live albums, from 6 different tours. I think all those negative "fans" should find another artist to listen to, what about Lady Gaga or Pink, I think that must be something for you. I love "The Stones", and that's that. Best post of the month! Ditto!

Now that I've listened to it a few times, I think it's really enjoyable until they get to the closing warhorses. I was surprised,as someone pointed out how tepid Keith's intros are on the last three songs and how lukewarm they play TD, BS, and JJF compared to how they played up to that point. If they wanted to represent the ABB Tour I'd like one of the stadium gigs from 2005.

It's fascinating for me to see this footage for the first time as I was at that show and right up front. Yes, it was sloppy but still a lot of fun and they rocked despite the flubs in their own perverse way. I don't think they were as terrible as a lot of people say, but certainly inferior to the awesome act they would evolve into as the tour progressed. Whatever the case, I remember b

With the advances in sound technology and the video screens, some shows in the nosebleeds can be quite enjoyable. While not front row, I saw the Stones at Giants Stadium in NJ in 2005 from seats in the lower tier very close to the stage and that was awesome. When they came back to NJ in 2006 I bought cheap seats at the farthest end of the stage in the highest tier. You couldn't get any fart

QuoteThe Sicilian why did they have to land in crappy New Jersey? I can think of 50 better places in the snap of a finger. Like Buffalo or 49 other states. But really, how about Boston, NYC, Chicago, LA, etc... or San Diego, Seattle, Pittsburgh, Miami, New Orleans... Newark, NJ is right across the river from NYC and the Prudential Center is a relatively new and very nice venue. J

QuoteDandelionPowderman I've probably listened to it over 100 times by now (both versions) - and this will really be a crowd pleaser! The song is very simple, and as we heard from the rehearsals, it's made to be played live. I wish people would stop comparing D & G with Goddess - musically it's way off the mark. We may discuss quality and Mick's involvement, but that

Sometimes I wonder if it might be Taylor. In the official video you see keith with taylor on piano but they only show keith's face during the intro. Also, the studio intro is a little more intricate than the way Keith plays it live. Still, i'd like to believe it's keith.

I don't get to listen to the radio much anymore for various reasons. I'd appreciate if anyone can tell me if they've heard it played in the NYC area, and what kind of stations(s) were playing it. Wouldn't it be ironic if an "add on" to a greatest hits set recorded as the Stones push 70 turned out to be a huge hit? It just might become a hit as it seems a lot of non

I definitely hear Charlie. His style is there although I do think they looped him, cut and pasted, etc. for a certain sound. I'm pretty sure I hear Keith doing his open tuned on and off suspended chords but he's mixed very much at the same level as the other guitars so his playing sort of floats slightly beneath the surface of the overall mix. I hear Woody and Jagger on guitars for su

I think it's pretty damn good for a bunch of guys pushing 70. N0, even if they were younger, it's still a pretty damn good song. Honestly better than I expected to hear. If they can sound like that at their age, I wish they'd attempt a full album....

QuoteRoss Seitan, Great job pulling the info on the songs Dylan "borrowed" from, but I am not denying that his Bobness has done this rather copiously of late. It apparently annoys you to the point that you cant enjoy what Dylan brings to those tunes, it doeesn't bother me so much in that I know this is acceptable within that form of music. Obviously those who own the rights to

Quotetomk Quote71Tele Tucson 1978. Linda Rondstadt in hot pants. Don't know if I'd want to see her in hot pants nowadays. She was a good-looker back then, though. Ah - Linda...the stuff of male teenage fantasies back then. Kind of tough to see current pictures of her but let's be fair. I was 18 in 1978 and I suppose I look like hell by comparison today.

Quotetomk Quotestonesdan60 1978 - JFK Stadium: First Stones show. Great to finally see them but they looked like ants and the PA wasn't very powerful. Still a fun day. The PA wasn't powerful? Really? QuoteMax'sKansasCity "Slow Train Coming" put him so many laps behind that there was no way he would ever catch up, let alone ever pull ahead, of The Stones. Thank goodness my Stones never did that type of thing. Slow Train is considered a classic even by many who don't agree with Dylan's religious views in the lyrics. I think Saved is also a great album, especially in t

Best in order, which is hard: 2005 - Giants Stadium: Best overall show in terms of seating, sound, and top-notch performance. 2006 - Giants Stadium: Another great performance, but far away seats, which didn't hamper a great, loud sound mix. Sway & MR were highlights. 1981 - JFK Stadium: Great in terms of excitement level and party vibe, right in front of the stage. Stones were

Alas, in 1969 I was only 9...so....Didn't see them till '78. Still got to see alot of great shows over the years.

Quoterollmops I remember when B&B was released in 1976, the reviews weren't great but I liked that record anyway. It was when I started to get heavily into the rolling stones so I didn't have too much a prioris about their music; I was young and open-minded. B&B is different; it has no direction, no focus, it is a collection of songs that have very little to do with "satisf

I can't remember the name of the Pie album but I do remember rocking out to it at mt friend's house many years ago. It's probably been over 30 years since I've heard the Pie version of HTW.
