If the reviewer knew what was to come 30 years later....!

Yeah, that jumped out at me as well. I can't remember what the average price for a concert was in 1982; I remember Springsteen was £25 at Wembley by the middle of the decade. In 1973 £1.50 to £1.75 was the going rate and the Stones were £2.25 so they've always been higher than average but never three or more times the average until now.

Think I paid £2.20 to see the Stones at Wembley Empire Pool in 73.

Hey, that's not fair. If I remember it well I paid 20 guilders to see them in Rotterdam 1973. It seems the pound wasn't sinking yet.

"But some couples let the sun go to their heads--and made love in the open."
Nice concert atmosphere, at least.
And so the attendence was 80,000...plus I guess about 40,000 gatecrashers to get to the 120,000 figure that is often referenced today as the attendence. Or perhaps time has a way of inflating the numbers. (And on a related attendance note, this says that about 65K attended the show the day before at Sloan Castle.)
This is an intersting line:
"But sometimes the actions looked laboured and the wrist rested heavily on the hip."
And what's so wrong with a wrist resting heavily on a hip? Not sure I get the point of that.
