OH but I"m so bummed out!!!! Oh well - must stay away from those negative vibes! I'm hopeful there will be a "real" tour next year - waddya think??
But not to go all Pollyanna but at least they're touring. Even if the tix are incredibly expensive, the venue is Newark, the date is too close to XMAS, and this announcement is after I spent my meager disposable income on tix to Neil... OK - I have to stop this...I'm starting to spiral down to that dark place...
I am happy that they feel like they are still up to this, that really does make me happy... and I am happy that I have seen them 30 times, and I am lucky enough that,most every show I attended, they played it great. I guess (reading on IORR) that over time they actually have played some bad shows... but I was lucky enough to never attend one.... it was all wine and rose and good times for years and years. So I am am happy about about those 2 things.. and Im happy with the new song... and we will just have to wait to see if the world lasts... and they tour next year and if the sun comes out tomorrow.

It's literally a ten minute train ride from Manhattan under the Hudson River to the arena in Newark. For all practical purposes they are playing in NYC.

Newark, NJ is right across the river from NYC and the Prudential Center is a relatively new and very nice venue. Just like in the past, shows at Giants Stadium in NJ were considered by many to be NY shows as they were also just across the river from the Big Apple.

I'm guessing they couldn't get the New York venues when they wanted, so they did Newark. It's VERY close to New York you know, like 10 miles, technically they're playing New York. The New York Giants don't even play in New York, their stadium is in New Jersey.
Just like when a lot of bands play Philadelphia they often play the Tweeter Center (I think they changed the name recently) which is actually across the river in Camden, New Jersey.
It's a New York venue, that is technically across the border. No big deal. Would MSG or something like that have been more fitting due to the fact it's their 50th Anniversary? Probably. But looking on the MSG website calendar there is a Knicks/Lakers game there on the 13th and a Knicks/Cavaliers game there on the 15th. In fact there is something going on every date (on many days 2-3 things) from November 20 through December 23, that means no MSG gig possible for over a month. I don't know what other large venues (and I mean large, not a club or theater, there are only 4 of the 50th shows, even if more come next year they aren't the 50th Anny) that are actually in the city other than baseball stadiums, which generally are good only for baseball.

If the Stones were to actually announce that these shows were to be the last, it would have been cool to have two shows in London as a tribute to where the band started and two shows in either Chicago, Memphis or St. Louis as a tribute to where their music started.
