Quotesweetcharmedlife QuoteNorthShoreBlues2 Here is one that just hits to close for home and I haven't listened to it in a few years; I didn't dare listen to it as I posted it here . . . Yellow Ledbetter is more of a tearjerker. Yup thats another one, good call. But for me, nothing is more closer to the heart than Come Back.

QuoteAmsterdamned By far,and of course the original. I was hoping someone mentioned this one, so good. Taylor has wonderful balance of rythmn, soloing, and noodling. For me this is the Stones at their apex; its all down hill from here . . .

QuoteDeidre Potted Shrimp, I'm serious. I saw them twice in '76. Never been more disappointed at A Stones' gig really. It wasn't just me - many other longer term fans realised they'd lost a massive amount since '73. Love You Live confirmed to me how much they sucked at this period in the seventies. Ronnie's twanging on Rooster is an abysmal disgrace. Just loo

probably my favorite version . . . only part i have trouble with is jagger at the end of each chorus line adds the "ch"; you can't always get what you want-ch! Lol. I do believe this is the version we are talking about that, other than that I agree its probably one of their finest moments . . .

Quotecrumbling_mice Agreed. I've always sai this since tattoo you. Their days of producing cuting edge rock and roll are over, long over. So it makes perfect sense to go back to what they excel at. Stripped gave us a short insight into what they can do in this area and they still have the ability to produce great country and acoustic blues. Two guitars, keith and mick on vocals, charlie (

QuoteBostonstranglerno9 Get out of the bubble. Go to a club and get a kick instead of those stadium shows. Im sick of the rocknroll pollution (u2,stones etc) There are lots of new bands that kick the stones arses. Oh yeah they got a history that rocks (60s and70s) but its all over now. When was the last time stones did any street wise undergroundish. Musically i have to go back to some girls or m

Well its all relative and a somewhat subjective. However, the Beatles and the Stones were at the forefront of a cultural revolution; Rock bands these days or for the last 15 years have really shrunk in importance in American pop culture. Face it, our beloved rock'n'roll is DEAD, sorry. There have been a few small artistic explosions, which have seen some great music arising from same

Hey guys, did the boys drop Sweet Virginia due to Bobby Keys getting kicked off tour? (bath tub incident) Or was Sweet Virginia not holding her own in the set list? ****edit**** (just saw that Bobby left after 9/30/73, and sweet virginia was only played at the first few shows) Was there any change in the setlist due to the loss of Bobby?

QuoteRocky Dijon NorthShore, when Pearl Jam started it was not a singles market with albums being something of an afterthought so no one in their right mind would wait until 2014 to mark the Stones anniversary. Also, Pearl Jam are marking 20 years. When the Stones hit 20 years they gave Europe and the UK a tour, a live album, and a concert film. 20 years after their first record was released

Its probably already been discussed, but its been kinda bothering me lately: How is 2012 the 50 year anniversary? Is it as a band? Is that the "official" start date. Stones formed in 1962 + 50 = 2012 1st show in 1962 + 50 = 2012 1st single was 1963 + 50 = 2013 1st Album was 1964 + 50 = 2014 (Or was the first album 1963??) They were inducted to the Rock'Roll Ha

QuoteMarmalade Apologies if this has been posted elsewhere: This is what I dislike about the Stones. Its been going on perhaps since the 70's; this broadwayshow type of approach to their concerts; they want to try to please the lowest common denominator; they play for the meat heads, the "greatest hits" crowd; I always wished they would be true to their music and th

Quotelettingitbleed Pretty terrible. I seriously doubt that Dre had anything to do with this. It's the same beat over and over the whole time! I imagine some random dude made this at home, thought it sounded kinda like a Dr Dre type beat, and threw up on youtube. Does not sound like a professional remix to me. Awful, along with all Rap and hip hop crap. You can't spell crap wi

I think our beloved rock music is dead . . . with that said, I think Coldplay and Muse are awful rock bands . . . The other comparison I can make to Beatles and Stones; or Beatles vs. Stones is Nirvana and Pearl Jam. Nothing will ever compare to the Beatles and the Stones, never ever again will rock music be so important . . . never. That time has come and gone. The only comparison I c

Quoteakgameboy QuoteTate Nirvana. I have very good friends, and not just folks that were teenagers and twenty-somethings in the 90's, but others, who really think Nirvana was legendary, but I just never got into it. The quiet-loud-quiet-loud dynamic thing got old very quick, and Cobain's whiny voice never sounded honest. To me they were little more than Guns and Roses in plaid. And

QuoteCarnaby I honestly feel, and not just because this is a Rolling Stones board, that Jagger in his prime was the best, above all. Otherwise, we get into an apples and oranges debate. In their prime, was Berry better than Dylan? Little Richard better than Faces era Stewart? James Brown better than Otis? Who knows? well put.

Grunge legend Eddie Vedder has announced he will release a ukulele solo album. The Pearl Jam frontman will follow in the footsteps of Tiny Tim, George Formby and Amanda Palmer, releasing a collection of original songs (and three covers) performed on a teeny-tiny acoustic guitar. Cat Power and Glen Hansard guest on the aptly named Ukulele Songs, which will be released 30 May. After nine recor

Unfortunately, I don't have to many good memories of stones shows in the last ten years. I think the audience is to old for a proper rock show. There are to many "meat heads" associated with a stones show, and the band plays the same songs every night. I had better times at stones shows back in the 90's, maybe because I was younger . . .
