Always thought that Robert Johnson's "Traveling Riverside Blues" was pretty Stonesy, although I can't imagine that his deal with the devil would have allowed him to see that far into the future.

Is it just me or the guitars are mixed higher in the movie than they are on the cd? Also, it's fun to look at the contrast between the 1969 and 2006 videos. In the '69 clip, Jagger looks utterly possessed; he delivers the song as if the devil is being exorcised out of his body. In the SAL clip (which I like), he looks more like an aerobics instructor. Looking at the two performances

I'm not bored, but the SAL soundtrack was indeed a bit of a disappointment. The first cd is quite good; but the second, exception made for two-three songs at the most (Brown Sugar, Satisfaction, and maybe Start Me Up) is really tough to listen to - at times even a little embarrassing. As the Austin and Rio shows prove, they can do a hell of a lot better than that.

Not a chance. I like Shine a Light quite a bit and I envision listening to it a lot. But the great thing about Stripped is that it took wonderful songs to truly new heights. Shine a Light at best features very good performances of such songs.

Downloading released material is indeed illegal, but who the hell cares? Most of the people on this board who downloaded SAL (myself included) will end up buying the cd anyway, so what exactly are we stealing? Besides, I have given enough money to the boys that I don't feel particularly guilty about getting a bit of a preview on some crappy sounding mp3 file. It is understandable that BV wou

I had high expectations, but what I heard so far is sort of a mixed bag. On the one hand, I thought the guitars sounded quite good on the tracks I got my hands on. Lots of energy, good mixing, and even something new on Some Girls and She Was Hot. On the other hand, I thought Mick's vocals on both those songs were pretty sloppy. On Some Girls, aside from skipping the line about black girls, t

Always thought he was sort of the redneck equivalent of Celine Dion or something. The tunes are catchy, but I just can't get over the cheap sentimentalism of his lyrics. Also, I find his attempt to sell himself as the regular guy from Indiana a bit silly. It's true that he still lives there, but his huge mansion/ fortified compound on the shores of Monroe Lake (near Bloomington) is not

The stage used in B2B was the best IMO. On the whole, I think that when it's all over people will look back at that tour as some sort of high point (I am hesitant to say zenith because I don't even want to get into any anachronistic comparisons with the 1969, 1972-72, 1978, and 1981 tours), after which came a bit of a decline. This goes, I believe, for the band's energy/showma

I understand America's image in the world is tenuous right now, but I didn't think it was so bad as to merit a lecture on heat waves from Norwegians. 40-45 degrees celsius does not qualify as heat wave in much of the US - it's just called the summer weather...

The production might be bad, but with a few exceptions the material is pretty poor to begin with. Two or three good songs, but that's about it.

That the Stones don't give a damn about you, Turd, says nothing about their legacy. Just as, I might add, the fact that the pretty girl in high school would screw some rich, buffed-up jock instead of a slobbering moron drooling all over her says nothing of her character.

In 1996, when I was about 19. A friend of mine would always play "Brown Sugar" on his car's cassette player as we made our way out of town to score some heroin. I eventually asked him to make a copy of his Sticky Fingers tape and was instantly captivated by Dead Flowers (kind of fit the mood in those days). I bought my first Stones cd - Stripped - largely bacause Dead Flowers was o

Regardless of compensation, do you really think they would want to be playing to this kind of audience? I doubt they would want to play a show in front of a few hundred people who spend the whole time counting bum notes, commenting about how fake their hair looks, complaining about Mick's "passionless" voice, intimating that Keith is brain-damaged and definitively over the hill, bi

I would hesitate to call this show "the best of all time" because I believe there is little sense in comparing today's performances with those in the 1980s, 1970s, or 1960s. Most tours have a very distinctive sound and tempo, so they are not really all that comparable. I do, however, love the show. I understand the point of view of those who claim that the massive overdubbing ma
