I had noticed that the "something is really wrong" crowd had been unusually silent after Lyon, Barcelona, and Lisbon. Do good shows not interest you much? Or are they conveniently ignored because they don't fit your conspiracy theories?

I am usually more inclined to listen to live as opposed to studio records, but this is one song where I think none of the live versions (with the possible exception of the 1969 tour) comes even close to recreating the magic of the studio version. Has a lot to do with the sound of that riff and the difficulty in replicating the vocals, IMO.

The only thing more depressing than "renewing acquaintances" with a spouse is getting stuck with one in the first place.

Good for you, Turd. I didn't much like your review of the Frankfurt show, as I thought it vastly overstated the significance and the representativeness of that one bum show you had the misfortune of attending. But I am glad you got to see a good one for a change. I hope our boys aren't finished yet, but it's probably reasonable to expect more ups and downs as time goes by.

The only point the side by side comparison convinces me of is that he just can't take the booze and drugs as well as he did in 1972. That, however, is hardly a surprise. I am just 30 and in damn good health, but I would be totally useless (if not dead) if I ingested today the amounts of drugs and alcohol I used to consume 10 years ago.

Pretty far fetched right now, though it might be a possibility in the future as old age sets in and their (Mick's) athleticism may no longer allow for stadium shows. I am sure it has been on their minds, too. Incidentally, Eric Clapton's album covering old Robert Johnson songs is truly excellent IMHO.

They're still a whole lot cooler than the losers who spend their day nitpicking their performances and complain they are not the same band they were in 1969.

I think it's probably a case of the "see what you want to see" phenomenon - on both sides of the matter. Unsurprisingly, the "conflict" is about Keith. Those who follow the band closely probably have a firm opinio

With all due respect, this is a load of cheap, pretentious hyperbole. That some people would call this review poetic is besides me. We all know by now that Keith can play great one night and look completely lost the next. But this has little to do with strokes, mental problems, senility, or the onset of Alzheimer's disease. He is probably just wasted. And it seems reasonable to me that a

If you can't afford to go to the shows, that's your problem. They have the right to set whatever prices they please and live with the consequences of what that means for ticket sales. So far they seem to be doing pretty good. If that's too high for you may consider getting a new job or focusing on cheaper entertainment. I don't go around bitching about Lexus because I can
