Ever heard of freedom of speech?
Date: June 18, 2007 17:00

In liberal democracy - ok, fair enough, this ain't exactly a liberal democracy - in benevolent BV administered dictatorship, people are allowed to say what they think. Thus, if Keith wasn't up to par at a show you went to, you are allowed to voice (or, er, type) that opinion. That's called freedom of speech. Unfortunately, the StonesTaliban around here wants that to cease.

I suggest you all spend this week reviewing the Federalist Papers.

I'd like to support, but I'm afraid the mob will come after me, so I'll just silently watch

Its nowt to do with freedom of speach.

so let's sum up ablett's argument: it has nothing to do with freedom of speech, he just wants us to have no freedom of speech!

No Pal, I would like to see the stupid speculation of the demise of either KR or the Stones to stop, the continuous negative reaction to absolutely EVERYTHING stop and for a few to grow up......

Freedom of Speach by all means but lets make it interesting....

Quite agree.
Freedom of speech is a right which should be protected..
...but maybe freedom to repeat yourself ad nauseam should be restricted ;^)

But I get the feeling some here are after more than expressing an opinion. More to do with seeking attention.....

Re: Ever heard of freedom of speech?

LOL, ablett. the reason anybody posts on a message board is for "attention." conversations are based on people paying "attention" to one another. um, otherwise they wouldnt join a forum . . .your logic demonstrates itself to be topnotch, once again.

But Billyboybongbong you seems to repeatedly try and gain a reaction with almost every post. Wouldn't that suggest you lacking something?

Did you not read what BV said "What is your problem ding dong?" and he hardly ever posts here during the day?

Freedom of speech means you are free to say what you want, not that what you say should go unchallenged.

obviously not "no matter what the provocation."

however, to say or to deny it doesn´t make keith look or play better.

ablett you come here yourself again and again without having anything to say but trying to put other peoples opinions down.
you don´t have nothing to say , you are just "i need to defend the stones" programmed.

Dear pot ablett

- have you not noticed that you have the tendency to repeat yourself ad nauseam?

As for dictators, whether taliban types or Stones' forum types; sometimes they need a slap on the wrist.

I've said it before but I can say it again.

With the freedom of speech comes also the obligation of knowing when to shut up!

If you walk by a very, very fat woman - a stranger - in the street, would you then consider it your "right" to walk up to her and tell her that she is very overweight and for her own good she should lose some weight? (for equality reasons I should point out that it could just as well be a very fat man ;-))

..or would that not be a good time to shut up? Right or not.
