Just to say that there has obviously been a bit of a misunderstanding and I have now edited this posting. Many thanks Erik for putting things straight your end.

Although I VERY rarely post here, I would like to offer up the thought that this book which I've had in my possession for the last three years is quite simply exquisite and for me is the one book on the Stones that I would cling onto in preference to any others. Spanning the years 1968-1969 it's captures a moment in a way that even "Exile" doesn't of the Stones rising

The Frost DVD does indeed contain the full performance of "Sympathy for the Devil". It's in black and white as originally broadcast. Like the copy that was circulating in "collector's circles" it has a very slight amount of red/blue/green fizz running through it and hasn't in any way been restored. The whole of the surviving Frost on Saturday Shows are on this D

Hullabaloo TV Show November 1965, they also performed "Get Off Of My Cloud". Gered Mankowitz was there and took some great still photographs, check out Gered's books for the photos and reminiscences.

In the interest of setting the matter right David Bailey did not take the cover and liner photographs for the first Rolling Stones LP. It was Nicky Wright. For the full story check out:

Complete David Frost Show 1968 Sympathy For the Devil performance. Yes it's complete. No it's not the edits of bits and pieces. No you can't have it. No I will not post it. And I have the live 2120 S. Michigan Ave. from the outro of the first Ed Sullivan show appearance too, but that's prior to 68. J J I thought you had the Marquee Rock and Roll Circus reh

This has now been taken down care of ABCKO and sadly it's also gone from the Brian Jones site where it originated. Thought for the future but perhaps it might not be a good idea to copy and post this kind of stuff on YouTube as it makes it very high profile and the site is regularly policed. Leaving it be on lower profile dedicated fan sites would at least afford the possibility of a long

I think the best thing is if you email me direct and then I can let you know about where I've sourced the DVD in question from, etc, etc.

Because I've got a copy myself, I'm fairly assiduous in locating rare Stones videos from the 1960's to 1980's. But I've got to admit I'm fairly impressed with some of the stuff you've put up here. Is your Marquee sourced direct from the master or is it a copy of the slightly degraded downloadable version on the INA French TV archive?

The June 5th film is a nice addition to the more widely available Abbatoirs films, but it does end rather abruptly just after Ron's solo on "You Can't Always Get What You Want' and it is all on one camera, I think it was first flagged up on this site over a year ago. Lounis if you're up for some serious trades send us a message.

With regard to the TARKL Altamont, and assuming that it's the 2cd set released at the start of this year. It's definitely not a soundboard but is a stereo version of the same tape that was sourced for the VGP double CD that came out some years ago. It's therefore an audience tape, might be from the taper that appears in the Altamont sequences of Gimme Shelter (the movie) and also

Great to see these videos, I'm a real sucker for Gram Parsons, plus my wife plays in a bluegrass band and gets to tour the States once a year and our house is awash with the sounds of Ralph Stanley, Flatt and Scruggs et al, so when I checked out The Family playing their hearts out to a modest audience my heart just melted and the band looks just perfect for the music they are playing - real

Yes I'd endorse what you say 100% ScottKeef and you're obviously attuned to the requirements of your source. But I think you're opening up another discussion here as regards hoarding - that's something entirely different. The people I'm referring to here (including your source) are mindful of the fact that a lot of this rare stuff is traded amongst collectors who have

I would say that whether or not DrPete has this particular video, the fact that it exists (if indeed it does) does not mean that it it is going to turn up on bootleg video any time soon. There is a whole slew of rare stuff that does circulate amongst a few collectors from the sixties and seventies in particular and is traded on a like for like basis and the thought of any of it ending up on

Assuming that the guy has indeed got this I don't see what the incentive to post said "Holy Grail" video here would be. Look at it like this to get hold of that video DrPete would have to be seriously driven and motivated and good at sourcing and networking with serious Stones collectors who have access to this kind of stuff. This video is ultra rare - so he's either had to

Now if this awesome little nipper could just up his age six years and relocate to London's East End he could hook up with my little lad who's currently looking for a drummer of this quality for his band. You'll notice the absence of drums from their line up in this clip: Drummers are always hard to source so your boy should have a lot of choice. Hey perhaps we could

Really fantastic work! Lenchik's tenacity and commitment to the cause of unearthing rare and exciting film material on the Rolling Stones is second to none. Message to Le Paul Jagger, I've been trying to get in contact with you for months - if you'd like to e-mail me direct that would be great.

Sorry my memory is obviously f&%cked, Bitch and Wild Hoses were shown on TOTP on 22nd April 1971 a week after the first transmission of "Brown Sugar" on a short lived album spot. Other acts featured on this spot included the Kinks and Yes. Apparently all the tapes of these broadcasts were wiped.

The Marquee '71 gig was never televised by the BBC, their OGWT debut was performances of "Wild Horses" and "Bitch" which were filmed at the same time as "Brown Sugar: which appeared on Top of the Pops. Both "Bitch" and "Wild Horses" fall into the missing believed wiped category as much of the first season of OGWT was wiped. The reason for t

I remember seeing all these broadcasts and "The Let it Bleed" performance was filmed at the same time as "Honky Tonk Women" and "Gimme Shelter" which are familiar with Mick in the batwing black and red get-up and Keith wearing his Nudie the Tailor rhinestone top.All filmed December 1969. Suprisingly or not it's true ERC6761, the same friend was also working with Roger Waters on sorting out finance on Pink Floyd's Wall concert in Berlin of 1990 and it's subsequent release to video of the concert film. I don't think his work involves meeting up with rock luminaries so much these days but for a while he was doing a lot of it and both Chris Jagger and Roger Wat

Actually this concert was up for an official release in 1994. A friend of mine was involved in setting up the deal and had regular discussions with Chris Jagger. The version that was being prepared was a different edit to the TV special shown in France and other European countries and was pretty much the same edit as the "longer version" with the false starts on "I Got the Blues

But a topic entitled "To all the SAL and Stones complainers" is going to attract naysayers as well as those nodding their heads in agreement. One of the risks of posting on forums. Why not just eradicate all negative posts regarding the Stones in their current incarnation? Although if some of the thought police represented here had their way the naysayers themselves would have
