Yes there are two different versions of this video. Both directed by Peter Whitehead and essentially the same bits of film (both with the jail door opening which is missing here), references to the Oscar Wilde trial with the green carnation (pity this YouTube vid is only in monochrome) and the Redlands bust abound. Anyway the second version is essentially the same but scenes flipped and parts

Hi warhol, Yes you're right about Frank and (the late for obvous reasons) Danny Seymour shooting the film on 16mm. But the concert footage according to a review in the Guardian was shot by an entirely different crew. One of the 16mm cameras Frank was using had a light leak in the magazine which again accounts for a lot of the washed out undefined tone you mention in the monochrome sequ

Hi Warhol (as in Andy?), Unfortunately I just don't have the technology, but if you leaf back through the Hot Stuff pages, back through the mists of time you'll see that I posted a review of this gem titled "C.S. Blues - The Real Deal" and someone very obligingly did offer a download link. The interesting thing was that I sourced this copy through a lover of cult films,

Try Google - you might be able to do a trade. There's been four "factory pressed" editions that I know of: The first on the Portugese/ Argentine (you takes your choice) Classic label, was a fairly loveless affair with minimal menu and nowt in the way of extras. The overall picture quality was good (ish). The second edition to appear was on The Old Bastards label (location

If it's yet another of these unauthorised, schlucky biopix then it's for masochists only. i.e. no Stones music, clips that would shame a bootleg and produced with such condescension that you'd have to be dumber than an amoeba to want to watch it for even 5 let alone 54 minutes. No stick with the official product, which (sigh) is probably going to be yet another DVD of the ger

It was broadcast at the time on a UK TV show called TIME FOR BLACKBURN, and has never, ever surfaced amongst collecting circles either in video or audio form. There are a few photos that survive, including MIck throwing his shoes into the crowd at the end of the show but that's all I'm afraid. Their appearance was kept as a suprise and really went down a storm. Not suprisingly.

Yes, apparently a deluxe version of Hot Rocks (Vol. 1) with accompaying DVD with the subtitle Sound and Vision was released last October. And guess what? Yup a rootie - it's no longer available - could be like the Aussi release of the "Charlie Is My Darling" DVD last November - literally pulled off the shelves as soon as it touched down, but this one I would assume would have ne

Like many of the tireless visitors to this wonderous website, I've long been fascinated by the legend that has surrounded the never released and seldom shown documentary of the Stones 1972 tour of North America, the infamous @#$%& Blues, the work of photographer, print maker and occassional film maker, Robert Frank previously famed for a particularly testing documentary on madness titled &qu

Well I've finally got my copy of DAC Altamont and it's produced to the usua high standards you'd expect from the inheritors of the Vinyl Gang mantle. The CD itself is interesting although a bit of a mixed pickle as it really is two separate recordings. The audience tape is now in stereo and with a resultant added presence that my older VGP "Killer Festival"lacked. You

Actually the shot on the back of the poster is from the Stones April 1971 Top of the Pops "Brown Sugar" promo. The DVD is what makes this last instalment of the singles box sets essential, a hint of things to come we hope. Although what the risable Neptunes/ Norman Cook remixes of Sympathy for the Devil add to the collection, let alone the Neptunes remix Sympathy video is very que

Brilliant! However not all the fans are as old as us old pioneers, look at the, oh so carefully, selected shots of the Four Flicks audience and you can imagine Mick (in particular) vetting who gets into the final edit. Gone are all us paunchy old windbags, us old Gabby Hayes type pioneers and it's all fit young 18 year olds preferably female who make the final cut. However the influenc

Yup Mathijs and it's all on VGP's "Surrey Rehearsals", it's one of those one's you play to yourself in times of serious Stones anality, but definitely not something you'd wan't to inflict on friends and family, or even worse explain why you've just shelled out a load of dosh for. Kinda sad, but we've all beeen there I suspect.

I've got this CD, it's one of those "must haves" if your a serious Stones collector. But definitely not the most captivating listening experience, mushy sounding tape, showing the usual speed inconsistencies and horrible hiss and other extraneous efx.Snatches of conversation that would be quite interesting apart from their virtually inaudible. Why do we collect such shit

It actually was a friendly warning but directed at all of us not just you Roy. I'm definitely not trying to put anyone down here but there has been at least one recent case of people sourcing rare material being fingered as a result of incautious postings on this board. There are a lot of really great traders here and I'm really not into any kind of slagging off as I'm sure you

I really would be ultra cautious about all this. This board is being "policed" and some people are already getting noticed and warned, I don't want to go into this any further but just be carefull.

I would suggest that a possible useful strategy would be to approach the private library direct with the entirely plausible rationale of being engaged in the compilation of a guide to Stones on Film and TV in the 60's and 70's. "The Missing Archives". Might be an angle worth trying.

Hi Shrimp I'm humbled! Let's hope the film library the researchers for this show sourced has a whole slew of goodies that can be accessed. Oh for a broadcast standard copy of BOTH days Marquee '71. Now that would be the ultimate Christmas present!

While all this debate about which version is which is truly touching has anybody considered using a bit of iniative and contacting the tV company to track down their source - as Travino did recently? That way you might actually acquire something of merit. Certainly a lot better than the degraded boot video you are all referring back to. If you don't ask you don't get.

Are all you Live Licks enthusiasts saying that you'd prefer to add this so-so effort to your collection rather than a real enthusiast's idea of a Stones live album say one from the 1972 or 73 shows or even one from the "lost" tour of 1970? Get real guys!

Big dosheroo and was released I think just prior to the Mobile Fidelity sound CDs of the Stones (almost entire but some jumpin' around between UK and US issues of their ABCKO back catalogue from STONES No 1 al the way through to HOT ROCKS). Came in a wooden case and is a seriously desirable bit of kit and way off the richter scale now in the prices it commands. There's been a lot

Well strange to report the reason is apparently poor sales. So they're going to delay the release of set 3 until the spring by which time more geriatric Stones fans will have traded in their Christmas record tokens for the first two sets. Of course if the sets had offered something new they might have shifted. There is an increasing degree of irritation, boredom general ho-hum reaction
