Removed probably as a result of the posts on this board as this place is regularly "policed" which is why posters should always be carefull about I.D.ing bootleg sources etc, although in the case of YouTube it seems particularly sad and petty as there is no evident commercial motive there just a desire to share. The Saturday Night Live Rehearsals have been in circulation for years

The frustrating thing about all this is that the whole performance is available but only within a very small circle of collectors. It was available from one collector of 50's and 60's rock TV memorabilia as a video, but that source has now gone to ground. The performance should be available to TV researchers from the David Frost Show website although only the U.S. July 1969 and Augus

this sounds really reassuring as there was a rumour that the version about to be released on DVD was the version with a lot of cuts of scenes hinting at Chas's twisted sexuality, plus the dubbing of both Johnny Shannon and John Bindon's voices amongst others. In fact the rather lame cut that Warner Bros released on video in the eighties. But if this is the version shown on BBC2, or e

Majesty I don't want to labour the point but the Beatles had kinda lost their group esprit de core by 1969 and I'll readily agree that Lennon was always a rocker but Macca as has been shown over the intervening years ain't and it's not suprising that the edgier stuff was to be found on Lennon's solo output as oppposed to the at times truly dire stuff to be found on Wings

Actually bearing in mind that (I think I'm right in saying) this was the first of the Stones entirely self financed tours, promoters would have been operating at the behest of the Stones and they certainly wouldn't have wanted to waste their ackers over after show wrangles with another band of equal stature and the endless haggling over who brought the biggest crowd etc, etc. The Bea

THe Stones could piss on the Beatles as a live act at any stage throughout the sixties, the Beatles had tired of touring by 1966 and that was because they realised that they weren't particularly good at the live show preferring to concentrate their resources in the studio. By 1969 it was really over for them and Topo Gigio was a more likely contender for hot act on the gig circuit. The

A lot of people have been commenting on this parlous situation for years. Sadly between the eradification of much of their early appearances on UK TV and the fact that there is a virtual embargo on any film of the band in their early days being released, due to (list copyright reasons, band politics, you name it... the bottome line is that all you're likely to get until they finally throw in

Filmed in May '68 and the second of two videos they filmed for JJF they also made a film for CHILD OF THE MOON. The first the one with "war paint" is available on the Singles Box Set part 3 and is equally wonderous. All these films were directed by Michael Lindsey Hogg who filmed a lot of their Ready Steady Go appearances and also Rock n Roll Circus plus a good few promos from

Yes I have got the "BBC Archives Volume 3" as well as the "Rare Stones Video" which includes other Maysles bits along with the black and white NY "69 press conference footage along with two perfect quality appearances on a French TV show in 1964 where the guys mime to "It's All Over Now" and "Carol" with horrible looking prop guitards (Stu and the

This clip along with more shots from Altamont including a snippet of "Sympathy for the Devil" with sound but unedited and their N.Y. '69 press conference (same camera as the Maysle's brothers film) plus lots of other stuff - Royal Albert Hall 1966 as filmed by Peter Whitehead, but with all the original sound (you can't hear the band - just the screaming), plus numerous co

Fascinating debate here as it really goes to the heart of collecting. I mean I'm sure that all of us are the net beneficiaries of stuff that we've sourced from a lot of hard graft and dedication to the cause. I take both J.Marko's point and Alimente's, I can really empathise with what they're both saying. Although and before we get too proscriptive about the ethics

One of the ultimate "markers" of wares that they had acquired or in this case illicitly taped was the late, great Mike Millard who taped a load of shows in the mid '70's at the L.A. Forum. This included nearly all the Stones, Zep and Floyd shows and owners of many Stones L.A. '75 shows are the beneficiaries of this guy's unintentional largess. He was so obsessive

Definitely E as previously explained cross position (suck, suck as opposed to blow, blow - pardonnz moi le double entendre) for bending notes, which happens a lot with Midnight Rambler. So stick with E.

Yes, I'd also recommend Mario. He's just offering a service to collectors, which he does with great honesty and fast turnaround of orders. I'm sure most people on this board are grown-up enough to decide what they do or don't need and I for one am gratefull for the opportunity to be given at least the opportunity to see his lists.

Fascinating stuff J and thanks for your input. I really was only referring to the "limited collector's circles" quote you used to describe the availability of the '68 Frost Show footage, which has otherwise only seen two recent outings, one brief snippet in the French "Let it Bleed" documentary, plus a different and longer clip from the same performance on a recen

Both these clips are amongst "the holy grail" items for Stones collectors. I'd add the London Palladium 1967 performance broadcast live a week or so after their Ed Sullivan appearance.Whether or not this has been saved I'd like to know also add the Marquee rehearsal Dec '68 for "Rock n Roll Circus" from a live test transmission (this according to one collector

Big Hits High Tide and Green Grass (The UK version with the booklet and infinitely superior track listing than the earlier U.S. version. Must have been 1966 much against parental wishes, prior to that the only "pop" record in the collection had been Millie's "My Boy Lollipop" Oooooh... and the Monkees "I'm a Believer" After Big Hits, it was "R

I am now seriously awestruck Steven. I hesitate to mention considering the demands on your storage space but if you'd like to be put in contact with the collector (inteterstingly not so much a Stones fan more a collector of movie esoterica) with the best available "C.S. Blues" e-mail me off list and I'll point you in his direction as I'm still minus the technology for

Awesome list from Steven! Without wishing in any way to detract from what sounds like Stones video heaven., I'm going to stick my neck out and say that I'd actually grade the Old Bastards version of CS Blues as better than 4REELS, which is horribly tweaked on the video authoring software so that a lot of detail is lost becuase of unnecessary flaring. Plus the 4REELS version is inc

THere's also a French edition with different extras such as "Rolling With The Stones" and other bits and bobs. And there's a Japanese edition. For "serious" collectors ideally single or whose wives have either given up worrying or walked out the door ages ago. I mean you do have to design your home around the ton of paraphanelia that such collecting demands.

Well I think without wanting to add to the angst ridden demands of the project, the guy to do it without a doubt is Bill Wyman. The band's involuntary first and for many premier archivist with help from poacher turned gamekeeper collectors such as James Karnbach, who collated much of the material on 25X5. The only problem is that Mr Wyman, as we all know,is now outside the magic inner cir

WEll to be frank I strongly disagree with your comments regarding the Zep DVD collection. I thought/think that it was a really great addition to their canon of released works. Opinions about "golden era's" may vary but let's just say that if you take a majority of commentators currently in print they'll usually agree that a band who are on the up and writing and releas

Well as I recall according to Majthis who along with Chris M does seriously know his Stones stuff the Foret Nationale gig was filmed for TV broadcast - the only gig to my knowledge that was filmed in it's entirety from the '73 European tour, I'm discounting the Frankfurt '73 Street Fighting Man clip as broadcast on the Old Grey Whistle Test as for all I know that was the only

This is a plea on behalf of those old and leathery enough to remember the Rolling Stones when they were regarded as a threat to the establishment, long before they had their teeth drawn and seamlessly segued into becoming, along with the likes of gacchhhhhh - U2 the ultimate progenitors of Stadium Rock. Those days 1962- 1972 (The years which unsuprisingly take up the bulk of Wyman's monum

I'm not sure about the new "Exile" album, I saw them three years ago in Hyde Park and they sounded really out of tune. Much preferred the Brian era. This new stuff takes a lot of getting used to. What's with this Woody geezer?

Well I'd go for the new 4REELS version. I've got all the previous versions and the sound and image are very good and I'd say better than the WOW and Jointrip versions. The sound on the jointrrip version is fantastic but the image is letterboxed plus you don't get any of the backstage/George Thorogood stuff and the WOW version sound is not nearly as good. So on balance the 4
