Erik with regard to your first question, no all her material was available on boot DVD but in the end after dipping her toe in the water and uploading little bits and bobs she really went for it and was uploading stuff such as "Charlie is my Darling" all 50 minutes of it, "Marquee '71" again 50 minutes and mindbogglingly the whole "L.A. The never lie or so the saying goes. Anyway I need your help here, I have a fantastic sounding CD with this title on the Midnight Beat label with recordings from their European Tour taken from Essen and Hamburg in what sounds to me soundboard stereo quality - absolutely fantastic. I've also got a 2 CD set on the Caution label with the same title, same tow shows. The good news being tha

Hi JKF, Well the better picture is the bluer one - the main problem with the 4REELS version is that the contrast has been pushed to the very limit, which means that midtones dissapear. As I've said before the best version of C.S. BLUES is actually sourced from the same version as 4REELS but without a lot of the degradation that so bedevils the 4REELS copy - which is anyway incomplete a

Well Juan it came on a DVDR with another little snippet reportedly from the same period ('68) of Keith fiddling around with an early synthesiser which looks truly arcane as in wouldn't look out of place in Frankenstein's laboratory. Both films are shot against largely black backgrounds and lit in an almost theatrical way. The Street Fighting Man sequence has Mick dressed in a se

WEll I'd second JKF's recommendation of BIG C.S. BLUES but only for the extras (most specifically Saville Theatre '69 and Brown Sugar L.A. Forum '73) which are great. But (as he must know) C.S. BLUES itself is degraded and incomplete on the 4REELS release. So look further afield for the meat of the matter (i.e. the film itself) and failing that pick up a copy of the OLD

well erik there are people working in tv stations who are Stones devotees who have unearthed some real gems a lot of which bootleggers are unaware of. I'm not going to be too specific (for obvious reasons) but you wouldn't have Knebworth '76, the new "director's cut" of Charlie is my Darling, or Montreaux '72 or Mick (sans other Stones) in 68 performing Stree

Yes Erik, I'm a bit cofused by it too. In fact the words "Why Bother?" came to mind. There's a huge gap in the market at the moment for someone to produce Stones DVDs for collectors in much the same way as VGP/DAC have done for Stones audiophiles. 4REELS could fill this gap but they do need to take some serious stock as they've got a little way to go yet awhiles. But i

OLD BASTARDS C.S. BLUES is the best factory pressed DVD with the Montreaus Rehearsals as an added extra WOW C.S. BLUES is not quite as good with horizontal ghosting but better colour 4REELS BIG C.S. BLUES is the worst and incomplete to boot but does have fantastic extras The best C.S. BLUES (which is interestingly sourced from the same print as 4REELS but much much cleaner) is only avail

Well I'm by no means a "factory pressed fetishist" but having had a lot of hassles with DVDrs that are very choosy about what machines they will play on, prone tp skipping, freezing - you name it... I really do like to know as much about the product I'm about to shell out for so that I can make an informed decision about whether or not I want to buy. I'd agree with Mid

OK list of the best Stones DVDs - not up for debate these are the best! No. 1). GIMME SHELTER Arguably the best ever rock doc and filmed almost by default (as they weren't the first choice) by the Maysles brothers ably abetted by the sublime editing skills of the late Charlotte Zwerin. Captures the band at the height of it's powers towards the end of their triumphal U.S. tour of lat

what the majority of these postings overlook is that the cream of their live tours both audio and dvd wise is the 60's and 70's era. How many more releases of the geriatric Stones from their latest tour do we have to witness before the at times ludicrous displays of hubris (look no farther than the virtual airbrushing out of Bill Wyman from "According to The Rolling Stones) giv

Yes, "Love in Vain" and "Street Fighting Man" are from Madison Square Gardens 28th November 1969 show(I think) and are different to the "Get Yer Ya-Ya's Out!" tracks SFM being the same as appeared in the movie "Gimme Shelter" but without the twitchy Radio KSAN DJ's voiceover as appears in this fantastic film. The "Gimme Shelter" cut a

OK so perhaps this posting should go on the TELL ME part of the site, but as postings here hang around a little longer and as i think this is so important I'm leaving it here. Ethan Russell who first came to London from California in 67 and was introduced to the Stones shortly thereafter started photographing the band in '68. He took the photos for "BIg Hits Through the Past Dar
