the police tour is a flop?????based on what?

It did well last year but it's been playing to partial houses of late here in the Midwestern US. They were just in my town the other night and played to a generously estimated audience of 8,000 in a building built for 11,500.

and?
does he fill stadiums?
no
why?
because he is not a star

Cliff Richard doesn't play stadiums-
he plays multiple
(we're talking 10-15 night-long residency's,in some instances) Arena dates.

And yes, like it or not, he would come under your moniker, of 'star'.

I have to say GT81 that your line of reasoning, or perhaps better stated as a lack thereof, escapes me. You make rather bold claims but instead of substantiating them with fact you attempt to do so with ill-informed opinions, which you are of course entitled to but to willfully indulge in ignorance seems a fool hardly an ultimately fruitless venture. Anyway, good luck with that!

I'm a huge Stones fan and even I know that Zeppelin is more popular. Zep is the biggest band in the world period. Bigger than the Stones and the Beatles combined.

The Police? They are a big band, yes, but they aren't anywhere near the Stones, Beatles or Zeppelin. They're in the same room as Van Halen ha ha ha ha.

Now U2's 2009 tour has been declared a flop too!!!??? Maybe you should move over to the Fortune Teller thread! BTW, got any lottery numbers for tonight's Mega-Millions?

Everybody who plays rock guitar knows who jimmy page is. Everybody who plays drums knows who Bonham is. They are more than stars, they know how to play, and they have influenced almost all the hard rock and heavy bands in the world. Almost everybody who love the stones knows who the members of Zep are. In fact, they know that they have collaborated in albums from both groups (dirty work, phisical graffity). Selling stadiums is the criteria for being a great band? The stones didn's sell all the stadiums in their latest tours, didn't they?. Both will do great tours, although Page still makes efforts to play, and that makes an importan difference for me: keith doesn't want to play as he could (even with arthritis).

To me, Glimmertwin81's comments rank up there with the guy who said "guitar groups are on their way out" when asked about signing the Beatles...

I hope they tour. I was at the O2, and it was absolutely amazing. I just wish that more people could have enjoyed that.

Absolute nonscence and he knows it.

That's the most intelligent post I've seen on this thread. I remember some of GT81's previous posts and I wouldn't even bother arguing with him/her. It's all complete bullshit.

A Bigger Bang - the entire tour was a flop. What, half a billion made, gazillions of people, a great record, DVD set and a MOVIE!!?? - sounds like a flop to me.

Led Zeppelin has been a constant flop. Their recent tours have been devastating!

YAWWWWWWWWWNNNNNNNNNNNN...........

This is the most riduculous thread EVER.
A LZ tour will sell millions of tickets, fact.

LZ's catalog moved almost 2 million copies last year in U.S:
(Stones: 600k / LZ: 1.9m)

Thats not bad for a band whose only 2007 release was another compilation (which came out in November) and whose fans are, apparently, all dead...

they can fill :

but i think they wouldnt fill even shea st. , RFK S. , Cellular F. , or Dodgers.

they could do all those stadiums, multiple nights.

Knowing the L.A. market, Dodger Stadium would be a record breaking sellout with at least 3-4 more added. And that's with tickets consciously priced a bit more than the Stones.

this tour would be a disaster like the police tour

for sure some people would go and see them
but in the end they won't fill stadiums

in reality nobody knows led zeppelin anymore
ask 10 people to name a zeppelin song..........

The trolls just ain't what they used to be.

(And the Police tour grossed about 300 million and counting...)

this thread isnt about led zep being a great band or not

its about their tour
and maybe they will fill a few nights at dodger stadium ( like nsync)

the stones didnt sell out all abb shows cause they played more than 600 shows since 1989

led zep will sell out because people will be wanting to relive there youth and others like me who where too young at the time will want to see what all the fuss was about.

it was the same when the stones got back on the road in 89-90.

and as for U2's next tour flopping. there's more chance of the edge taking his hat off than that happening!!!

I guess paris hilton can fill a stadium by farting
led zepplin??
who are they
old men with bad hair

they might fill msg and o2
they wont fill stadiums around the world

these ridiculous reasonings will make you go down as the biggest dumb-ass half-wit poster ever! LMFAO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Re: led zeppelin tour a flop

Ticket sales in the U.S. are down across the board this year. The 2 groups that would be immune from any recession would be Led Zeppelin and Pink Floyd, and only because they could never play enough shows to meet the demand. A U2 or Stones tour might perform below expectations in some markets but I don't think they would necessarily flop either.

Re: led zeppelin tour a flop

no it is not the same like the stones in 1989
led zeppelin have never been as big as the stones

u2: will sell out europe
will not sell out the us if they play stadiums
bono will annoy people with africa, bad outfits, embarrassing shoes
larry will show that he turned old
and adam will show some overweight
the edge will be fine

the stones were only off the road for seven years not twenty five plus, and they made three albums during that time, hardly the same thing

Correct. The Stones were more successful than Led Zeppelin between 1963 and 1969.
