When was the first tour in which Charlie used the famous plexiglass? Was it because of a memory problem??

Sorry for my english ; I'm a french little boy (but I like it)

I think it was first used on the 89 tour? The plexi-glass is used to prevent "sound-leakage". Especially the overhead mics are very sensitive and picks up a lot of guitars if the plexi glass is not there. Also it prevents the guitar-amp-mics to pick up sound from the drum kit. Plexi-glass is a very sound proof material. The set-list beeing written on the plexi, is only a "bonus feature" as far as I know.

no certainly not.
Audun-eg got it right on all points.
the setlist "scribbling" is just a bonus.
the plexi glass is to isolate the drum-mics from the rest of the band and to monitor the natural responsive drum sound.
It's very annoying for drummers to play outdoor gigs without properly hearing what they're playing. despite the sidefills and monitor wedges it reflects the overall drumsound.

Tim Ries also uses a soundback clip for the same purpose.

some drummers even use drum-shakers attached to their stool.
each kick at the bass drum gives them a buttkick in return so they actually feel it.

something like this: [www.thomann.de]

now there's a drummer-joke in there somewhere.
