They won't fill stadiums, that's for sure, but they could fill arena's. But if they want to, they need to stop making such a big deal about it. They're not gods, there just guys who can play a good rock 'n roll show. Too much talk, too little action. Let's see them do a couple more shows.

But honestly, I doubt it ever hapenning, and if it would, it would be a purely financial thing for them. If they would have enjoyed the music, they wouldn't have stopped in the first place.

get some perspective

Youre talking about a band who havent done anything in almost three decades and yet, when they release a 35 year old live album and DVD it sells several million in no time. They released just eight studio albums yet theyre still the 2nd biggest selling band in history (in the US anyway)

Two generations of their massive fanbase have never seen them perform.

When you think how big the demand was for the Stones was in 1989 after eight years, and how its still very big every 3 or so years since, then multiply that several times and you'll maybe appreciate what the demand would be for a LZ reunion after a break of almost 30 years. They could fill any stadium on the planet and basically name their price. If they wanted to tour for a prolonged period, it would be the biggest tour in music history. Absolutely no question.

their reasons for stopping in the first place had nothing to do with being unable to 'enjoy the music' and if a reunion was for 'purely financial' motives, theyve had ample opportunities to have exploited it since 1980.

Personally, I think they should let it go and shouldnt tour unless they have a new record, but thats just me.

Gotta say, GAZZA's correct on his points...pretty factual...

Here, I'll bring the performances over to page 2 so some other LZ fans can get into it (bottom of page one always gets overlooked)

DREAM SET-LIST.

They MUST play -

THE ROVER
NIGHT FLIGHT
CUSTARD PIE
HOUSES OF THE HOLY
IN THE LIGHT
HOTS ON FOR NOWHERE
ROYAL ORLEANS
IN THE EVENING
I'M GONNA CRAWL
FOR YOUR LIFE
ALL OF MY LOVE
RAMBLE ON
LIVING LOVING MAID
TRAVELIN' RIVERSIDE BLUES
TEA FOR ONE
DANCING DAYS (Acoustic, like STONE TEMPLE PILOTS do it)

That's what I WANNA HEAR, everything they didn't play in the 70's (well a few up there received a small airing but not at my shows....)

Least we forget how great they still can be....

GOOD TIMES, BAD TIMES / RAMBLE ON - O2 Arena, London, 12/07 -
Very close seats, good crisp sound (for an audience recording at least)

FOR YOUR LIFE - Same Show, First Ever LIVE Performance - YEAH !!!
Good Crisp sound.... "heard a cry for mercy/in the city of the damned".....

a stadium show needs stars
a stadium crowd doesnt care about music
thats it
these guys are no stars
who are they ?
have you seen them in any magazine in the past 30 years
have you seen them in any tv magazine within the past 30
I am not 30
I have never seen them
I cant name them
and so does a stadium crowd

maybe they can sell out o2 arena
but even new kids on the block can do that 50 times
even robbie williams is a star in england

led zep fans are dead or not able to go to stadiums

Led Zeppelin could, but Robert Plant, Jimmy Page, John Paul Jones couldn't if you'd ask me.

Why did they quit in the first place? Did they think: oh well, we can still rock without Bonham and fill up stadiums, but why don't we just quit anyway although we love playing? And personally I thought the O2 performance was pretty uninspired.

well you dont see my point
led zeppelin may have sold records in the past and still do
but I mean cliff richard has sold a few hundred million albums too
and?
does he fill stadiums?
no
why?
because he is not a star
I guess paris hilton can fill a stadium by farting
led zepplin??
who are they
old men with bad hair

they might fill msg and o2
they wont fill stadiums around the world

Oh man. now that is a good @#$%& point!

can't argue with that one. most of the punters at Stadium shows are there for the experience, rather than their love for the music.

However the point stands. Public demand was great, international coverage in all the daily newspapers and national news shows.

Public demand will be there, those who are going without a love for the music will still go to be at 'the event' mjedia manipulation can convince the multitudes of anything.

Just like field of dreams baby - if they play, they will come!!!!

thats bullshit, some people might know stairway to heaven
but everyone in the world knows satisfaction smu brown sugar angie sympathy jj flash and so on
the members of led zep are no stars
mick and keith are megastars
I cant even name the members of led zep and guess their stage performances are pretty booooooooring
even the stones tongue is bigger than led zep

Zeppelin has sold more records than the Stones. In fact, Led Zep IV has sold nearly three times as many copies as the best-selling Stones albums. But in terms of cultural and historical significance, record sales don't always mean that much. I think I once read somewhere that the worst selling Simon and Garfunkel album had outsold the best selling Stones album. Does that mean Simon and Garfunkel are "bigger" than the Stones?

Yeah I agree, album sales is not the be all- I just dont see LZ as being bigger than the Stones, how can they be? IMHO

Zeppelin had greater commercial success, but culturally and historically, they do not MATTER nearly as much as the Stones. They did not have the same kind of impact on society that the Stones had.

Besides, the band rocks, but I've always considered Robert Plant a douche.

.....I agree with Gazza. Of course Zepellin could fill stadiums. Hell, almost everyone I know will be buying tickets. The "not a star" comment is funny.

first off I dont put LZ in the same category as the Stones but I'm still a big fan. But glimmertwin81, the more you say the more ignorance you show. I AM a Texan and AM old enough to remember how LZ was one of the biggest draws in this state during their peak. LZ could fill ANY venue they choose in Texas, hands down!!

This tour - which may or may not even happen - is already labeled a flop?

R U Crazy? Ticket demand (and prices) will be sky high.

Re: led zeppelin tour a flop
Posted by: glimmertwin81 ()

when the stones came back in 89 they played 3 pure stadium tours
nearly 18 000 000 people within 10 years and then 2 other tours with a stadium and arena mix

led zeppelin might fill o2 might fill msg and might fill saitama super arena
they will never fill stadiums around that world
that is impossible

it will flop like u2 playin to stadiums in 97 98
and u2 are heading a flop in 2009

because zeppelin mean nothing to humans these days
they have never had the impact on rock or even pop culture like the stones
they have never had these big stars within the band

mick jagger and keef are stars without the stones these days too
led zeppelin cast? who are they ??????
