I am hypothetically the publisher of the Sun UK. I have not heard back from my
informed sources, so I am ready to scream "Print!" into the phone. The headline:
"The Wired Ones at IORR can no longer assure a Stones 50th anniversary tour!"
The clock ticks away mercilessly towards my deadline...
Damn, yellow journalism is fun!

There was a time, a month or so ago, when I was finding it impossible to
visualize what these 50th shows might be like, given all the turmoil, internal and
external. But when those in the know assured me that 50th shows were a "done
deal" I relaxed and tried to get into a Taylor Wyman kind of mood, cooperative
soul that I am.
But are the wired ones amongst us now re-hedging? Must I again tax my
ridiculoulsy overtaxed brain to visualize the un-visualizeable? Or can I still
relax knowing that 50th shows are indeed on their way for sure barring illness
or death?

I only know one poster who's been saying that - and he's been saying it since 2009.

So was this:
- " hey its been 50 years, lets jam together and tell the world before we jam to set the rumour mill running..."
- "we'll be touring next year with Bill as special guest, so we'll test that we can work together before we sign the contracts..."
- "we are do a special one off secret gig (original band except for Brian) on our 50th anniversary, so we better do a rehearsal now..."
- " we'll have a bit of fun and video it for the 50th anniversary (5x50) DVD..."

This is the first time that Bill has played with the rest of the Stones (especially Mick and Keith) in 20 years...and the first time Mick, Keith, Ronnie and Charlie have played together for over 4 years.

Your post speaks to this question of what exactly to visualize for any 50th
shows. Musically, I find it very easy and almost comforting to see a sort of
Ben Waters 1962 Mick Taylor Rhythm Kings kinda show, sort of dignified and
Charlie Watts classy. Which would work superbly if all they're gonna do is
collect presidential medals and work on television...

It's like a broken clock being right twice a day. Keep saying it's a "done deal" for enough years and eventually these folks will be proven right.

Aside from that being true, there have been plans since 2007 to do some shows or even some touring.

And if I am wrong that Gazza had earlier expressed some confidence that shows
would occur, I apologize for that too.

The penalty for being wrong would be the end of the Stones. That's a pretty stiff penalty if you ask me.
Ughh. If that's case. Don't bother fellas. Would love to see them show some imagination, rather than trot out the same tired act again. I'll save my money for Bruce.Quote

I cant honestly imagine it'll NOT involve stadiums again, though.

But what if its substantially not the same act, but a more music-centric Stones,
featuring Wyman and Taylor too and Ben Waters possibly?

but they've been wrong for years now...this deserves punishment no matter what the future holds for the stones...

How about being forced to listen to Superheavy and Monkey Grip for about 48 hours straight? Would that be punishment enough?

The session took place from December 6th
it can't just be coincidental that the session started on the 42nd anniversary of altamont. i think the stones finally decided to right that wrong and they probably made a very special altamont-oriented recording, whose proceeds will go to the hell's angels and others who were negatively impacted on that infamous night.
I doubt 42 years later Mick, Keith or Charlie remembers the date Altamont took place. Even in '69 Mick had to be reminded of the date as seen here at 3:58.
then it can't just be coincidental that neither mick nor charlie nor keith remembers the altamont date.
One would doubt they keep track of dates in their own tour history. unless they were reminded by an employee of the dates.

Maybe they are suffering of a somehow autist syndrom - remembering all days events in the past ;o)Quote

Exactly, it's like being on the witness stand in court and asked StonesTod where were you on the evening of 26th July 1977?
