Some idiots there. They were even refusing to believe the existence of the new album even AFTER a review of it on rollingstone.com by a respected journalist (David Fricke)

OH SHIT, WHY DIDN'T I GO THERE.. FOOL ME, FOOL ME... "Senor", "Trying To Get Heaven", "BILLY"!!!!!, "Blind Willie McTell", "Forever Young"... Lots of my favourites...and the guy even played the guitar.

Particularly "Senor" is a piece of heaven to me. When I heard the song back in 2000 (or something) in Helsinki I was rebirth and convinced again; after being Judas for almost a decade or something, I was a true Bob-believer again!

I hope this rumoured setlist is bullshit, so I can sleep better.

A few comments regarding last night:

1. Most Likely You Go Your Way (And I'll Go Mine)
The same opening number as at the 2007 tour opening club gig in Stockholm.
That time Dylan played guitar for the first seven songs. This time he was back at the keyboards.
While the 2007 club gig was somewhat rough and ragged, last night was at a much higher level from the very beginning.

2. Señor (Tales Of Yankee Power)
Beautiful, haunting, dark, strong. Amazing.

3. I'll Be Your Baby Tonight
4. Stuck Inside Of Mobile With The Memphis Blues Again
5. Tryin' To Get To Heaven
6. Things Have Changed

7. Watching The River Flow
Bob on guitar center stage, having fun.

8. Blind Willie McTell
The same dark and haunting feel from Señor.

9. I Don't Believe You (She Acts Like We Never Have Met)
10. I Believe In You
Interesting putting these two titles back to back. Both worked really well.

11. Honest With Me

12. Billy
Biggest surprise of the evening. Performed really well.

13. Summer Days
14. All Along The Watchtower

(encore)
15. Cry A While
Quite surprising as an encore.
While it normally changes tempo, last night it kept a solid slow blues beat throughout the song.

16. Like A Rolling Stone
"Thank you, friends!", followed by an introduction of the band.

17. Forever Young
A fine ending of a great evening.

Overall, this gig far exceeded my expecations. The singing was surprisingly strong.
Bob took up most of stage left, while Freeman, Kimball and Garnier were all squeezed together on the opposite side.
Last night set the tone to what hopefully will be a really good European tour. More Bob tonight!

No review yet on Bill Pagel's site so thumbs up to you Erik

Did you spot a guy with 26 mikes stuck on him and who doesn't move at all to the music (aka the Crystal Cat taper)?

Very good performance, but the quality of the recording could be better...

I really like "Most likely..." as an opener, it kicks things off perfectly. I also adore the live versions of Tryin' to get to heaven, Cry a while and I don't believe you.

Stuck inside of Mobile finally got another intro. I think he could exchange that for another song from Blonde on Blonde, say, Obviously 5 Believers. But nevermind, I'm glad Highway 61 has disappeared (hopefully for a while).

"the quality of the recording could be better"

Imho it's the kind of tape Crystal Cat could nick on Dime, slightly re-EQ and sell as their own...
Try to boost the 16K till the sound becomes loud and clear without sounding glassy. I've found it improves the quality of the rec. greatly.
Not all the tapes circulating freely are taped with a Neumann KM 140 mike at 1000$ smiling smiley

14 changes from last night's show in tonight's 17-song setlist tonight in Stockholm, which also featured a rare performance of "One More Cup of Coffee", featuring Bob on guitar.

great to see he's mixing things up again so much.

Of course Bob will be touring the USA this summer. His appearance at the Rothbury Festival (Michigan) in early July has already been announced. He will probably not play any new material until mid April 2009.

I heard he will be playing some more of the minor league stadium shows this summer.
He will be on the bill with Mellencamp and Willie Nelson; so I read.

Thanks gomp

Well, thanks to you, dcba, this really helped to improve the sound quality considerably!

However, I always feel that since the autumn shows 2008 the vocals sound somewhat strange on all recordings. If you have an earlier show, say Halifax 08, and you compare that to the autumn shows... well, something - I am not quite sure what - has changed. The vocals have something of a "tin-can sound".
This sounds a bit more negative than I intended. All in all, it's not that the recordings are "bad", I only noticed that something must have changed. ;-)

He left the keyboard to sing and play the harmonica center stage a couple of times. Most notably during High Water and Love Sick, which were two of my personal highlights.
