Mick's microphone went out during Brown Sugar in New Orleans in 1978.

Quoteshadooby 1989-90 Steel Wheels/Urban Jungle Tour...hands down. Yep - they were tight as Dick's hat band on this tour. Loved it. I know it gets slagged off as the start of the Vegas years - but that's a load of BS. Great tour and great set list.

I just remember that god awful note he hit on You Can't Always Get What You Want on the 1989 pay per view - it was really bad!

Quoteshattered Missed New Orleans Super Dome (or whatever dome it's called) Van Halen, Doobie Brothers, and the Boys, 28 Jun 1978 if I'm correct. July 13 - 1978. Sorry you missed it - a great great show! Many people on this board were there. People who slag off the 78 tour did not see this one.

Lucky to see them do this on the 78 tour in New Orleans. I have never understood why it isn't a warhorse / staple of the show. A great, great song.

QuoteCarnaby There goes Taylor, over playing and messing up a perfectly good song. He should have played the rhythm throughout. Brian Jones played it perfectly. Complete and utter nonsense - the sound coming from Taylor's guitar is magic.

Philly #2 was my 20th show - 1st in 1978 in New Orleans. The answer is NO - you cannot see the Rolling Stones too many times.

All Down the Line is a Stones' classic from their most famous album - an easy choice with that group.

I understand BV's point - I do suppose I was lucky catching Philly #2 for my only show of the tour - so far. I also had a beer with BV - a personal highlight for me. Enjoy the Hyde Park Shows!

QuoteHotstuff Killer Brown sugar!! Yes, it was. As good as they can play it. Just perfect. And I loved the Ronnie Wood fills - he did a great job. Either he hasn't played like that before, or he's been so low in the mix I couldn't hear him. Just a wonderful performance from the guitar section.

Their most famous (if not best) songs are from the distant past. With a 21 or 22 song set list - it is impossible to please everyone. Look at the famous songs they didn't play on a nightly basis - Angie, As Tears Go By, The Last Time, Beast of Burden, Shattered, Waiting on a Friend, Let's Spend the Night Together, Under My Thumb, Lady Jane, Time Is On My Side, All Down the Line, Heart

Gee, I went to one, but it was a great show - Philly #2. BV would be a great judge, even though he seems to hate to rank anything.

This is what he was wearing when I saw him at the Philly art museum. He was with another couple - no security in sight.

I have never seen a band of this caliber so impacted by the audience reaction. Keith seemed very moved by the Philly reaction. When Keith cranked up CYHMK - the place exploded. Why in the hell wouldn't the sensitive band want that reaction every night. I like the two new songs, but come on - they do not hold up in the Stones' canon.

It's been said before, but Taylor and Can't You Hear Me Knocking got the Philly #2 crowd back in the game. It had been flagging badly before that - Taylor got them back and the crowd never waned again. Certainly, Taylor could have been used more, but you take what you can get and Can't You Hear Me Knocking with Mick Taylor is a LOT. Midnight Rambler was just outstanding at Phill

I ran in to Ron at the Philly art museum and had the briefest of conversations, but you saw Keith and Ron and spoke with Keith - that is a great moment for you. Many congratulations.

It might not be the best, but it's pretty damn good. I've seen every tour since 78 and this current show is very good. Far exceeded any expectations I had at this late date.

I am biased, but Philly #2 was just the best. I never wanted it to stop - just a great great show. Flubs and all - Keith and Charlie were cracking each other up the entire night.

We were standing outside of the museum watching people have their photo taken at the Rocky statue when Ronnie casually strolled by. Many on this board have met Ron and other members of the band, but I have not. It was a surreal moment - not wanting to bother him, I simply said - "hello Mr. Wood - thanks for the great show last night." He said thanks, nodded and made his way up the fam

The number one question following this tour will be - why the limited use of Mick Taylor? And enough of the garbage that's he no longer a member. Neither are Lisa or Bernard but they're on every song.
