I really like this.

Maybe the next poster, post a video of the previous tour's SFM. If it was played.

Might be neat to hear them chronologically.

Does anyone know how Keith plays that opening B chord? It's the same way as he plays the B in JJF. I can never figure out which notes he plays.

Wuudy

Thanks Duke. I knew that but he doesn't hit all the strings on the 4th fret, right? It looks like he's playing other frets on the E, B and G strings.

Wuudy

This song should always be a staple of their shows. It's always a tour highlight.

Street Fighting Man was great at Hyde Park. I loved it!

One of the most consistantly well-played songs the Stones have.

Should be a staple in every setlist, imo thumbs up

Since its recorded in Open D ( or E, cant remember) you get that extra drone on the thinnest string that you wont get with Open G. I feel thats the clue.
To reproduce that sound on a capoed 4th in Open G you could add a seventh fret on the B string and a ninth fret on the (thin) E string. That would at least give a more chime´y sound.
Can´t remember I have seen him play it this way though smiling smiley

Lucky to see them do this on the 78 tour in New Orleans. I have never understood why it isn't a warhorse / staple of the show. A great, great song.

And, possibly the weirdest promo video the Stones ever did:

SFM was also highlight of the DC show.

If you put up any version next to '69, you'll lose every time

Right on, except minor correction. If you put up an version next to the Wembley or Brussels '73 frenzied version, you'll lose every time.

Agreed. It also worked very well as an opener of the arena shows on the Licks tour.

SFM should be a show staple. It is better than Start Me Up, Tumbling Dice, Miss You and Honky Tonk Women. A great show opener or closer. My favorite versions are from 1969 and 1973. I also like the Stripped version and the Voodoo Lounge versions were also good.

What about the 1989/90 versions with Woody on acoustic guitar? I thought they were great.
