Yeah, Saitama was the best Bigger Bang show, by a longshot.

Those Mackie CFX's are my favorite mixers ever. Nice choice.

Yeah... Keith playing that '72 Tele is just such a good sound and look, even if it's a wrong association to say "Keith=Tele", there have been a lot of great sounds and shows from that combination. Glad he got over the Music Man thing, those never felt like proper guitars to me.

I think it, along with all the SW tracks except Terrifying, is highly underrated in the Stones cannon. If they'd recorded those songs in '94, when they'd grown out of the '80s production sheen, then Mixed Emotions, Rock and a Hard Place, Sad Sad Sad, Can't Be Seen would be remembered with the rest of their later day classics, I think. It's a shame the album made s

QuoteB-Flat Live sounds from Voodoo Lounge tour. I loved the sound from the Gibson Les Paul Junior, and of course from the Teles I think the 89-95 period (with the Stones, anyway) had Keith's wimpiest guitar tones. Didn't care for them at all. I'm with whoever said '97. Perfection. I never cared much for the phaser from 75-82, I think he used that in excess.

Wow, that Paradiso version is AMAZING. I love how seriously both guitarists are taking their jobs, for a change.

I'll dig up the link later, but there was a mastering forum a few weeks ago that got into contact with the guy who mixed the thing who confirmed that there's no autotune used, but that there are a fair few overdubs (and fair play to them, they had three shows to get every note in its right place, I'm quite sure I couldn't do it).

"Will the snot nosed, "I'm special 'cos I like alternative music" kids at Glastonbury respect the Stones?" Just as much as the red nosed "I'm special cuz I saw the Stones live in their prime" folks at Glastonbury will respect Muse.

Quotesweet neo conwas this idea of a smaller stage & a b-stage out in the middle of the stadium used before the Stones by other bands? U2's Zoo TV tour is (I think) the first instance of it, which was 92-93, so just barely beating the Stones to it. Remember, VL was Mick's reaction to Zoo TV.

They used the trap door during Sympathy instead of Not Fade Away, starting late in the Fall U.S. leg. Worked much better that way, I think.

As far back as '89, eh? I had no idea. Thanks for clearing that up.

Since at least Licks (probably before), someone at the sound desk just adds some processing to Mick's wireless mic when he puts the harp to it, and every now and then you do catch a distorted "yeah" or something during MR as a result of not being quick enough on the button.

It certainly changed Jagger's stage persona - when he just kept the mic on the stand for a lot of the show ala 69-73, he had an entirely different way of working the stage.

QuoteVoodooLounge13I love the length of Live at the Royal Albert Hall - for me, I just don't get the love for Leeds. I find that to be a bit overrated, personally, but I really love Albert Hall - I don't mind the guest spots, and I'm a fan of Bryan Adams, so it works for me. LOL I woulda loved to have seen them there. The version of Magic Bus on this set almost pips the Moon er

I think the performances have been getting stronger each night... I'll Go Crazy is evidently a tough one to sing, but I think the band pulled it off admirably. All bets are on "No Line" for tonight, but I'd love to see them pull off Stand Up - the groove on that song is fantastic. T

Yeah Oasis are playing Slane this year, not U2. And there's no way on earth they'd only do one English date. They'll be at the new Wembley, I'm gonna bet.

Zak only played drums on one Endless Wire track (Black Widows Eyes), and I think the album suffered a lot for it. The tracks were played much better in concert. Zak is an incredible drummer when he's with The Who (or The Healers, or The Lightening Seeds, for that matter), but he was never a good fit for Oasis.

It was about a third of the way through the NA leg of the Voodoo tour that they changed Mick's intro - you can see in the Giants Stadium video how it worked originally, I think strutting on from the side was a much better choice though.

There are some incredible moments in this film. Am I the only one who was impressed by how *much* guitar Keith played in "As Tears Go By"? Made me think he should sit down to play electric, if he's going to play like that. All in all, a great show. They can still do it when they want to (Saitama, Beacon, Austin...)

QuoteJumpingKentFlashBlame it on Mark Haefli. He's the one that makes them like that. He also did a DVD for Aerosmith some time ago. It was the same like the Macca DVDs. Crying fans and audience close-ups litter his productions it seems. When I saw the Austin gig on The Biggest Bang for the first time, I thought it seemed like those Haefli productions. Then I read somewhere in the credits of

Foxboro Hot Tubs - Stop, Drop, and Roll. It's pleasant enough, but I can't really see it becoming a huge favorite of mine. Prior to that it was Liam Finn - I'll be Lightning, which really is fantastic.

QuotefranzkI have a question about Mick entering the stage: On most videos he comes from the side of the stage. But I saw one video where he appeared in front of the mic using the elevator board at the centre of the stage. How many times did he do that? And why didn't he do it on all shows? He did it a few times at the beginning of the North American tour, and eventually they decided th

QuotesweetcharmedlifeOk thanks TC. I followed the last tour and saw 1 show. But they didn't seem to change up much. But I would kill to hear Getting In Tune live. God I love that song. Unlikely as it might seem (or might not, I dunno), the version with Eddie Vedder from the Albert Hall in 2000 was brilliant. I think it's on iTunes, but I'm not sure.

But really, when was the last time The Who played anything off of Who's Next besides BOR, WDGFA or BBE? How about playing Getting in Tune or Bargain or have Roger sing My Wife or some other Entwistle song as a tribute. The hell with play

QuotekovachThey seem to always do alright from the B-Stage...are we saying they couldn't do that for 90 minutes? Don't be fooled, the backing band is definitely playing/singing on the B-Stage tracks, they're just doing it from backstage.
