urbanjungle90: Go - I bet you won't be disappointed. It's a tremendous event. The last tour they turned Keith and Ronnie way up and they sounded great. The Stones always do at least a couple of new things each tour, plus the war horses generally sound awesome live and get a huge reception from the crowd. I've seen the Stones in every decade since (and including) the 1960&#

The song 'Glory' off Exile in Guyville is an absolute classic. One minute and twenty-nine seconds. Haunting.

These incredible images really help to put things in proper perspective. We worry and argue about Rolling Stones tours, new albums and reissues, but these photographs help us realize that, as a matter of fact, Rolling Stones tours, new albums and reissues are FAR more important than even climate-changing volcanoes.

'Talkin' 'Bout You' is one of the first true - and great - funk tunes ever recorded. It anticipates 'Soul Makossa' by Manu Dibango by over half a decade. A VERY tough groove that only James Brown could surpass or even equal at the time. This song, if I remember, sometimes opened early Stones sets. Whether it did or not, it's a great, great rendition of the o

Their version of CYHMK in Washington DC in '02 was incredible. Ronnie's solo blew people away ... but Mick's harmonica solo was even better! I would love to hear that one more time. I was knocked out when they played 'Connection' in Atlantic City, NJ - Keith on vocals and it was good. I would love it if they pulled out a great old number for an accoustic set:

More than once I've thought of it as my favorite Beggars' Banquet song. Usually I come to my senses, but sometimes not for weeks at a stretch! Love the live version too.

dcba, when you edited your post five times criticizing Mick and Keith for editing, what was it you were changing? "Morally speaking it's undefendable." Ouch - I bet it would be devastating to the Glimmer Twins to find out someone's accusing them of being immoral ...

"Since 1990 Eric Clapton has toured more frequently than the Stones." Comment: Has he actually played more? The Stones have done multi-year, multi-nation tours in '89-90, '94, '97, '99, '02 and '05. Has he performed more shows in more places? "He plays smaller venues but has has varied his shows more infineitely than the Stones ever have.&qu

It's about global warming. "If global warming was outlawed, only outlaws would warm their globes." - The Covert Comic (www.covertcomic.com) ... But seriously, I love the slide guitar (or whatever it is) at the end of each chorus. In fact, what instrument IS that? Been wondering for years, thanks.

People are coming up with some great ones here. How about the following: Silver Train. Amazing ambience, awesome guitar work by both MT and Keith, crazy great lyrics; Mick's vocals are inspired. Plus Charlie kicks it. It got a bit of air play when released on Goat's Head Soup, but it seems all but forgotten now.

Reading Mick's lips one can see him singing 'Time is on My Side,' and 'Route 66.' You can also see Charlie playing the drum breaks on Route 66. It appears that Keith may be playing the lead fills for 'Around and Around.' These were typical setlist numbers from that tour, I believe.

Hotel pool footage elsewhere on the Internet, which is combined with this footage, identifies it as Fresno, California, which would make sense because the large 'Bulldogs' banner behind the stage suggests Fresno State University. In addition, the 'KMake Radio 134' banner at the front of the stage refers to a Fresno radio station of that time.

Surprisingly strong, in tune vocals with range and energy by Daltrey. ... And Pete Townsend positively tore it up. (Addendum: really hot guitar licks at the end of Won't Get Fooled Again. But Townsend was on fire virtually the whole time.) A really hot set in my opinion and the audience knew the songs and was singing along with them!

Everyone finished pissing yet? Most superstar bands don't sound nearly this powerful through a soundboard. It's a live show in front of a deafening crowd (reportedly at the Forum in LA) - the fact that they begin with Charlie beating out the rhythm, then tune their way into the song, is a good twist if you're open to spontaneity (e.g., Howlin' Wolf, Muddy Waters, and oh

Good points 71Tele, especially re the '69 tour. Note from the boots that they often spent a LOT of time tuning between songs. Today, of course, that's 'taken care of' for Keith and Ronnie by a combination of improved tuning technology and switching guitars with the help of roadies.

Agreed that auto tune was not in use in DC. Paul's (and his band's) vocals are famously tight, but you could still hear natural flaws occasionally. That said, Paul's vocals in Washington were incredible. He was definitely 'on' that evening.
